they way they were talking it just a matter of signing all the relevant documents and organising the press conference.

only article I could find also was one referring to Neal Daniher not being offered the job

Funny, in teh Age today they announced that Hardwicke is the front runner (ATM) but their preferred candidate is Thompson. Basically nothing to be decided until they can speak to Bomber and that won't happen until next week...

That's what I understood it to be, I would love to see Bomber back at the Bombers, but somehow I doubt he will if Geelong win the flag.

There's also been persistent rumours about Mark Williams and the last I heard was the club was waiting until both Geelong and Port had finished their finals campaigns so they could speak properly with them

Essendon have said told the other applicants ala Daniher, Sumich and Knights that they will not get the job so i presume if Bomber or Williams is not interested then Hardwick will get the job.

On other coaching news Mark Riley has accepted a job at carlton as assistant coach.

Ratten, Connolly and Riley all who have experienced senior coaching in the last year.

Yeah, you'll find a history of clubs' successful eras spawning a number of coaches further down the track.

Richmond 70s (Sheedy, Balme, Malthouse, Northey, Bartlett...others?)
Hawthorn 80s (Matthews, Wallace, Judge, Buckenara, various assistants)

Plus now the coaches Dogwatcher listed from the Sheedy era.

Now SEN is a bit hit and miss so we will wait and see but interesting if true.

They played a bit of an interview with Sumich on Sports Tonight last night and he said that Hardwick had the job, but was waiting on Thompson to sign with the Cats.

Yeah i know i saw that, SEN said that Knights has got it and then ABC just said there is a press conference in the next hour so lets wait and see.

Maybe Suma just thought Hardwick got the job because he was from Essendon
