Port 10.13 73

2016....

GWS 22.19 151
Port 9.11 65

The full circle has obviously occurred. the boys got close to some grand finals, the unit put in place 4 years ago didnt win a flag but it hit great heights

Trengrove is the one who has to go - watch his decision making.... "yes i dont have to run now i might just walk over here for a bit whoohoo!"

Lobbe yep swap for Howard at least youll see endeavour in there

Hartlett is only first game back, and as if youd drop dixon, he is new to an already crumbling structure

Even westoff would be a good kick in the ass to see his stupid beard back at centrals until earns a spot in the side

Ports resurgence last year only came when butcher was introduced into the side

Theyre not a group of students anymore heading for glory, theyre just bored senior employees... another day another dollar zzzzz

Stuart Dew next Port Coach

Hartlett is in the leadership group and he spent most of the day moping around and sooking. Should be dropped on attitude alone. Port have found a keeper in Byrne-Jones, time to see if there are any others floating around in the ressies

Yep, this week is tough, Geelong but at home.

Then they've got Richmond, Brisbane and Carlton, three wins there, 6 and 3.

They couldn't lose to Richnond, could they???
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Bassett would be causing a bit of division too id imagine.
Hartlett, Dixon, Lobbe and Toumpas all need to be dropped

What are the Cornes rumours?

There was a rumour about a month ago that Chad has created a division amongst the playing group after being overheard bagging out Wingard to a Port official. Was talk Cornes and Bassett don't see eye to eye either

As if that is enough to create a division amongst the playing group.

David Schwarz goes bang

"Hamish Hartlett, his football is rubbish, Charlie Dixon - no brain, just one of the stupidest footballers with all the God given talent, he is just ridiculous. And the other player is Lobbe, the ruckman, what has happened to him? So it's Hartlett, Dixon, Lobbe and Port Adelaide just stinking it up." - David Schwarz
"Fellas, it’s OK to be in pain. It’s OK to hurt. It’s OK to be sad. It’s no longer OK to suffer in silence."

I didn't see the game but I had some $ on Port, I was confident this was a game they would win as they had players back, first game on the road, a number of positives.

Interesting comments from Carey about Tyson Edwards, you may also remember Shaun Rehn got the arse early on also and he is a guy that challenges people.

People say you need to drop players but as Ive said before Port's depth is very questionable, they need to find the spark in the current 22, no use making sweeping changes and the cats put them to the sword, where are they then?

Lot's of Port players are locked away on very long term contracts... could they be sitting back enjoying the comfort of some guaranteed income? No one under pressure to keep their career on track, no necessity to play on the edge and keep improving. Hartlett, Trengrove, Dixon etc coach has backed them in over and over, all on long term deals, maybe complacency has kicked in at Alberton?

Could be something in it.

The contracts make smart business sense but will they help achieve on field results

Backed in on a long term, lucrative deal. Backed in to play when he wasn't fit at the start of the year. Talked up by the coach pre-season as the missing piece... Deflecting the issue and selective quoting wont fix the issues at Alberton

Righto, I get you now :)

I'm not trying to stick up for the bloke lol - actually thought his game Saturday was disgusting, if he doesn't get suspended for his hit he should be dropped.. big cry baby, and did some of the stupidest things I've seen at AFL level for a long time - how many free kicks/50m penalties did the bloke give away?

On the Bounce last night they highlighted one passage of play where Whitfield ended up kicking a goal after running from half back and Polec just trotted through the middle putting no effort in to go with him.

This is all i see as the problem with them at present. Most of them have the talent, and quite a lot, but hardly any of them are putting any effort in. Just seems no intensity in the way they go about it. So many players were flat footed yesterday. They can turn it around, they just have to wake up to themselves and realise this, if not write the season off.

There was a play yesterday in the 2nd quarter i think where after a forward entry, the ball spilled towards the boundary near the 50m arc on the far side.. Neade led the race to the ball some 10m behind the ball.. but as it approached the boundary he slowed to a canter, and then stuck his hands out wide looking for a deliberate.. his opponent kept running hard past him, ball stayed in, his opponent picked it up - Neade didn't even bother chasing, and GWS went down the other end and slotted a goal.

Ball went back to the middle, GWS won the clearance and kicked a goal straight away - 2x goals in less than a minute off the back of a lazy effort from someone who didn't want to run hard for another 15m.

piss poor, and summed up the day.

I found off the way they started the game

No intensity, no desire, no effort

You could potentially wear it if they were high flying etc etc but there struggling at present and you don't have to be an AFL guru to realise GWS aren't the easy beats they once were

There was no excuses to start like that

I dont want to make this a crows vs port thing, but a similar role player in the crows team is rory atkins. Now polec has more talent in his big toenail than atkins but he busted his arse on the weekend and polec didnt. and it shows in their performances
