Adelaide get Carlton's pick 47

Carlton get Betts

Betts goes from $600k at Adelaide to $400k at Carlton, Adelaide pay around $100k of that.

Betts wanted a 2 year deal, has accepted 1.

So he's taken a shorter deal on less money to get out.

He's taken the same one year contract he had at Adelaide, not less to get out. Money is speculation so you're guessing. Nice try.

Is it common knowledge he would have been on $600k next year at Adelaide? I'm sure his contract would have been juicy, but surely Crows would have front ended it?

Crows can't be upset with pick 47 for a bloke which 99% of SAFooty thought was past it this year, let alone next. Paying $100k of his wage is minimal, so no issues there.

pick 47 is quite generous...wonder if that is purely due to paying some of the salary? Thought it was going to be pick in the 80's

I'm only reporting what I read, if he wanted a two year deal at Carlton yet has accepted one for $400k which it $200k less than what WAS REPORTED he was on at Adelaide next year then he's accepted a SHORTER DEAL than what he wanted on LESS MONEY than what he was on.

Betts was on $550k a year but that's right he wanted to keep playing AFL footy something he wasn't going to be able to do if he stayed at the Crows.

Good deal for all involved, Crows get a decent pick and save a lot on his contract, Carlton get Betts and only had to give him 1 year and he gets to keep playing AFL footy next year.

Horrible trade for Carlton. Should be a pick in the 80's or nothing. Plays well then great but this is overs no matter the wage.

Let him stay at Adelaide then. We paid overs for a bloke desperate to leave.

Crows are reportedly giving Carlton pick 48 in the trade which makes more sense.

Crows gain pick 47
Carlton gain Betts and pick 48

Moved up one pick

Agree, definitely not a forward despite the few good performances he put in up there. If Jonas or Clurey get injured we then have half back types in McKenzie and Lienert trying to fulfill a key back role. Perhaps Port may try Marshall down back next year.

You’d be more useful down back than Marshall. ;)
Big loss if Howard left.
Wouldn’t mind Howard at Carlton.
