Having said that, if GWS can get their list fit by September, just hand it over to them.

The crows are absolutely a top 4 side. Good chance they finish top 2 at seasons end. 2 home finals and you have to think they are off to the big dance. Then it's a matter of who they play. Are GWS vulnerable in Melbourne at the G? I don't rate the Crows midfield that much, other than Sloane. I question the Crows forward line structure, by that I mean the out the back stuff. Does that stand up on the big stage? Who knows. One thing for sure, my mob are stuffed and it will get worse before it gets any better.

These are the two things I'm worried about. We need to show we can win a game against a decent side when these two things don't go our way.

Yep. Let's call it plan B.

When McGovern is back it gives our forward line a new look by having a high marking forward, something we have missed the past few months

Neither Jenkins, Otten or Walker are high marking forwards like him.

Hey I'm a Crows supporter and we are not a top of the table side sorry.

we have beaten 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th. So its not like we arent standing up against the best teams. We got smashed away in geelong, but thats not exactly unusual.

Of course the losses have been worrying, but we have as good a chance as any in this very even season.

the "out the back stuff" is just a function of our quick ball movement. I disagree with the assessment this is somehow "easy". Jenkins gets a lot of them because he is one of the quickest big men in the comp and simply works back harder than most defenders.

Whenever we have lost it has been because our quick ball movement has been stifled. And yes, we havent shown that we have a plan B as yet. But most teams look average when the game isnt played on their terms.

The biggest issue as you have identified remains our midfield. Atkins and the crouch boys are very serviceable but they arent matchwinners that can take the game by the scruff of the neck. Sloane is our only midfielder capable of that. Maybe we need to get laird in there more often? He does seem to have those attributes

The goals out at the back are easy, but setting up probably isn't. I notice that Geelong got some easy out the back goals and we can't do it against Collingwood for example but they do it to us. One of the mysteries of the game at the moment. I'm sure it's more than just game plans and personnel who just happen to match up well on one another.

Tell you one thing though, you won't want to be losing to Geelong at Adelaide in a few weeks. The monkey could grow into a Gorilla.

Spot on about McGovern, hes the only consistent contested marking threat and his absence has left a big hole.

Yep agree on McGovern he brings a different aspect to the Crows front half. Could be the X Factor? Other than him are there any other blokes who could potentially come in for the Crows. Juddy on the radio over here still tipping GWS as they have a good number of players who can make an impact in the back half of the season... Delido for example.

Is there room for McGovern, Jenkins and Walker in the same team? Im pretty sure that all 3 havent played together this year and the Crows forward line has functioned better because of it IMO

I recall an afternoon at the MCG where Lockett, Dunstall and Ablett worked reasonably well, in the same forward line so much so Garry Lyon ran around on a half forward flank, unmanned and totally ignored by his big V teammates!

Haha yes... they are!!!

My point being 3 really good key targets can work, so perhaps 3 average ones "could" work?

They all did against your mob earlier in the year.

I think three of Jenkins walker mcgovern and otten can play up there.

Otten's decent form has meant we haven't missed McGovern as much as we may have but if all are in their best form he is the one that would drop out

Jenkins was injured early, We kicked 5 of the first 6 in the first 15minutes, Jenkins then got injured and that was the ball game

I was at the game. Hawks dominated centre square clearances early.. The turn around that day was generated more so by a Crows midfield restructure than a clearer forward line...IMO. Any who the season still has a long way to go. A few key injuries will change the dynamic again before then.

Have I missed something? All the talk is about Walker, Jenkins, Otten and McGovern. What happened to Lynch?
