Both talented kids, I'm sure, but the chances of them having long successful careers is over before they even start. I mean, Carlton and Brisbane, sure, it might be long, but successful?

I suppose they can at least be hopeful of being traded in 2 years with both clubs recent track records.

Pretty sure the same thing was thought when drafted to Port circa 2010

Doubt it. We hadn't been dredging from the depths for years already, nor had we given up everything of value that we had to start a low, slow burn of a rebuild. You blokes were bottom and took some huge steps backwards in the trade period.

I knew I'd get at least one bite. ;)

Correct GWW- his father Laurence played 29 games for the Lions (then Bears).

Depending on who we draft this year and next in the so called superdraft I'd expect to be pushing for finals in 3 seasons

3 seasons? Nope, not without a core of 22-25 year old guns you won't be and you don't have that at the moment.

You're a long, long way behind the likes of GWS, Gold Coast even Collingwood and Essendon. Though, the one thing you have is Bolton who, and I think will, make an impression very early on the playing group with game style, standards etc.

However, at best with some extraordinary top end talent you're more than 3 years from finals one would think.

Turbo.... mate, that's ambitious. Seriously, 2016, we'll go backwards after (among other things) giving away another forward. 2017, our young guys will develop (hopefully) so I'd see that year as a year where we match this year's efforts of 4 wins. 2018, top 14.

In 2016, I do expect our game plan to significantly improve - given we didn't one for the past three years, I don't think that's too much of an ask. Our defensive effort will improve but our depth is still deplorable. We rely solely on Kruezer in ruck and I'm still not 100% convinced that is his best position. Cripps will get tagged, heavily. Gibbs is just an outsider receiver. Daisy is just Daisy and Murph will try his guts out again. But where is the improvement coming from I wonder. The GWS discards? I dunno!

I really see this as a VERY long term rebuild. In the environment we are in, where lower level clubs are feeder clubs to the big guys, there is a good chance that we might lose some of the older guys along the way too.

Pretty good crowd here at the convention centre.

Few nervous 18 year old lads sitting in front of me!
