I don’t have a huge problem with players wanting to get to a good club. We are a rabble and I’d be telling my lad to get to Geelong or Richmond rather than Essendon

If GWS don’t get what they want or Nth Melb should be ready to take him. Make him sook there for a few years.

This gets threatened every year and how often does it happen. Probably 80-90% of times the player ends up where they want and with GWS having woeful cap management this was always a likely chance of happening and they will have to most likely take unders

Slightly different in a two town club.

I think Booney has a valid point - how many recruits have Richmond picked up over the past half dozen years as opposed to say Essendon?

Geelong is a one club town.

Still rate Port for their stance on Nick Stevens in 03. They got nothing for him except the 04 flag.

He should be able to "trade" his services, it's his job, I have no problems with that, but if his motivation is to go home then GWS should be able to deal with whoever offers them the best outcome. If it's Essendon, well mate you can stay or go to Essendon as they have put in the best offer.

Absolutely agree, like when Kelly wanted to go back to Perth for family reasons but didn't want to go to Freo, Cats called his bluff.

If you want to go back to your home state that is fine, but it should be open to all clubs in that state.

Rankine is another example.

What about Tippet's Tips, when they say they want to go home but they end up in another state.

Being selfish, absolutely I'd take him. If you're talking about equalization and fairness across the competition, then no.

Sure, clubs should get some reward for being consistently good, but there should be some form of governance of it.

More for 2023 but AFL looks set to replicate the NRL's 'Magic Round' and play one extra game where all games will be played in the one state for a round.
