So why have Jonas as joint captain?
Ollie as the only captain makes more sense to me.
Could be a number of factors.
Say what you like about Jonas and his recent indiscretions on field (namely the Gaff incident - which he was remorseful for and has learned from), but up until he got injured last year, the bloke was in serious conversation for AA selection. He has been solid as a rock for us for 2 seasons now, and would be a driver of the standards that are expected on the track and on game day. The group obviously see his output worthy of leadership recognition.
The club have told us that they sought feedback from Boak and Rockliff, who are the only squad members to have captained a side at AFL level, and both of them mentioned that a co-captain would have been hugely beneficial.
Call it spin, call it fact. What I do know is that the leadership model at the PAFC has become stale and it needed a change up. I'm happy for the club to be trying something new, and couldn't care less if it is 1 captain or 10, so long as the playing group buys in and believes it to be the best model available to give them maximum opportunity for us to progress as a football club.
