Didn't he cop a $1,000 fine? If the umpire makes the correct decision and penalises Geary for hanging on then he wouldn't be throwing his arms around.

Yes its all Gearys fault, not flopper Hogan. Should we give Geary a week for Hogan being frustrated and hitting him?

I'm glad you agree, but suggesting Geary gets suspended is a bit silly...a free kick to Hogan is all that was required.

Still doesn't justify hitting someone on the football field or life in general.

Controlling your frustrations is important in all aspects of life. There is no justification for Hogans actions.

Hogan a touch lucky. Plenty of blokes have been pinged while retaliating before. But yes, should have been a free kick to Hogan to begin with. (pet peeve of mine is forwards constantly being scragged)

From afl.com :

COLLINGWOOD midfielder Travis Varcoe has escaped sanction for punching North Melbourne youngster Brad McKenzie in the face, with the Match Review Panel deeming there was insufficient force.

Varcoe's strike had been compared to the punch that saw Geelong forward Tom Hawkins controversially suspended for one match in June.

However, after viewing all vision and consulting an emergency umpire who was close to the incident, the MRP decided there was insufficient force to constitute a reportable offence.

The Hawkins strike was graded as intentional conduct with low impact to the head of GWS defender Phil Davis.

"It was the view of the panel the pair were grappling when high contact was made," the MRP said of Varcoe's strike.

"The force used was below that required for a report and no further action was taken."

Seven players were fined $1000 each in round 18, with West Coast forward Jamie Cripps charged with rough conduct for an off-the-ball bump on Melbourne ruckman Max Gawn.

Eagles teammate Jeremy McGovern was also fined $1000 for rough conduct on Demon Dean Kent.

Geelong's Steven Motlop and Adelaide's Matt Crouch can accept $1000 fine for wrestling each other, and Brisbane Lions midfielder Rhys Mathieson can accept a $1000 fine for kneeing Zach Merrett.

Greater Western Sydney half-forward Toby Greene can accept $1000 fine for misconduct after pushing opponent Brendon Ah Chee into the fence.

Giants teammate Tom Scully has also been charged for striking Power stopper Kane Mitchell and can accept a $1000 fine.

The MRP assessed contact between Collingwood ruckman Brodie Grundy and North Melbourne midfielder Jack Ziebell, but cleared the Pies big man.

The Panel said Grundy was moving back to the centre square after a goal was scored when Ziebell stepped into his path, causing high contact to be made.

Ziebell was also involved in a collision with Jesse White, which was also cleared by the MRP.

White "braced for body contact", the Panel said, and Ziebell went to ground, with no action required beyond the free kick the tough Kangaroo received.

HAWTHORN midfielder Sam Mitchell is free to face North Melbourne in Saturday's crunch game at the MCG after the Match Review Panel cleared him of striking Melbourne's Jack Watts.

The Hawks look set to be without young forward James Sicily, however, after he was offered a one-match ban for a late spoil on Bernie Vince that forced the Demon from the ground with a bloodied nose.

In a mixed set of findings for the ladder leaders, superstar forward Cyril Rioli can also accept a $1000 fine for his bump on Melbourne midfielder Clayton Oliver.

Mitchell was scrutinised by the MRP on Monday, but the Panel concluded he had not struck Watts after taking the Demon to ground in a tackle.

"Contact was made by Mitchell with an open hand in a pushing motion and it was the view of the panel there was no striking motion," the MRP said in its findings.

The Hawks remain a game clear on top of the ladder, but their poor percentage means they need to win their remaining three games or risk dropping out of the top four.

Kangaroos midfielder Jed Anderson can accept a $1500 fine for a high bump on Bulldog Lin Jong, which was graded as careless conduct with low impact to the head.

St Kilda midfielder Blake Acres was the only other player charged and can accept a $1000 fine for striking Carlton big man Matthew Kreuzer.

The young Saint's punch to his opponent's stomach was graded as intentional conduct with low impact to the body.

Brownlow Medal chance Luke Parker was assessed for a stray elbow to Port Adelaide forward Chad Wingard's head, but the star Swan was cleared.

"Parker tried to take possession of the ball and, as he lifted his arms, his right arm made high contact with the approaching Wingard," the MRP said.

"It was the view of the panel that Parker's action was not reportable and no further action was required."

Didn't even know Parker was sighted! Disgrace...

I see Sicily isn't a big enough hawthorn name to be let off ;)

Have just seen the footage & I reckon Jack Watts raked his fingers across Mitchells eyes so a fair response from Mitchell IMO.
