Agreed TSG. Id go one step further and say their recruiting from 1999 up to (and including) 2006 has been faultless. With the exception of 2004 (Egan- and even he would have been a premiership player barring* injury) all drafts beared future premiership players. That 1999 and 2001 crop though is outstanding. Some seriously good players in that lot.

Its a pity Mumford didnt play in one at Geelong otherwise he would probably still be there.

Yes, however i omitted the players recruited post 2007 as the 1999-2006 group formed the basis for the golden period between 2007-2011, whoever was recruited post 2007 was going to be used to top up what was already a gun side ie. Taylor, Podsiadly etc etc.

No, but they had the advantage (and fair enough) of numerous father-son picks, so they essentially got too high pick without havign to make hard choices early on in those drafts.

No advantage. Same rule for all (Vic clubs anyway). Besides, Blake, Donohue, Woolnough and Clarke all say hello.

the dees tanked, carlton tanked in the Kreuzer cup

Andy denies the tanking issue which is a serious issue if he is genuine about cleaning the game up but then he introduces the Cap for interchanges!
Matty Wade is a star and deserves more respect from the forum family!

Does the Melbourne Footy Club know the priority pick isn't available any more, so there is no point in continuing to tank?

Or, are they naturally this bad?
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Now I am wondering whether I am misguided or just too kind.
I just emailed a devout Power supporter I went to school with and congratulated him on what seemed to be improved skill and motivation in the team.

I've heard a whisper that a group of ex melb players are trying to form a ticket to run against the current board.

There's an article in The Age with David Schwartz saying he's looking to get involved with a few ex players.
