Hard to say what would interest port.....a friend of mine who lives in vic mentioned to me that a whisper was shannon byrnes would be possible trade bait, but personally id be shattered if port accepted that deal.

Who knows what we could work out if boaky did want to go home, but you would think given the importance of boak to port, i would expect them to chase a player and possibly a draft pick as compensation.

I havent studied the lower end of geelongs list well enough to know what would be suitable, nor if he has finished his contract what we would be entitled to if he does leave. As far as im concerned at the moment Travis is a port adelaide player and i hope we dont have to cross that bridge with him re-signing.

REB- If boaky was to head home, in your opinion, who would be likely trade bait?

Port would be resigned to getting a fringe at best player who is looking for regular first team football ie Mcarthy, Ebert. If they are playing regularly in Geelongs best team why would they leave to go to port? FYI thats not trying to belittle port, but the if he does leave i cant see port being anywhere near compensated enough for a player of Boak's ability/potential.

Boak would now have to be the overrated player in the AFL surely? I hope he goes for the money by staying at Port and stifling their opportunities to recruit other players.
I honestly have never even seen Boak play a good game let alone star.

I dont think he is over rated, I think he is rated highly in terms of his potential to be a genuine A grade player.

Pick 5 in a sound draft and at 24 years old is heading into what should be the best football of his career. As I said before he would be a much better player in a better team.

Geelong have a pretty good recruiting record of late, do you think they would be chasing a dud as hard as they are?

Ideally, Port would be looking for a player around the same age bracket as Boaky. The problem with trade discussions is that each supporter group is loathe to give up a quality player. But unfortunately, to get quality you have to give up quality and be hopeful that your trade benefits the side.

For Port, I believe they should be looking along the lines of a Mitch Duncan/Mitch Brown and a late first round or early second round draft pick (all depends on where Geelong finish in regards to potential draft pick selections). Geelong supporters will probably scoff at that suggestion, but obviously Geelong rate Travis quite highly and will need to come up with the goods to get him over. I guess another question is, what would Geelong supporters be prepared to give up? And be realistic ie. Don't throw up rubbish names like Shannon Byrnes! :D

NO WAY. Geelong have three problems at the moment..

1. No Rucks
2. Not a lot of pace
3. Not enough players in the middle age (as opposed to be middle aged LOL) bracket

So for point 2 and 3 no for Varcoe. For Mitch Duncan and Mitch Brown no for point 3. This is why stan said we don't have a lot of options to offer. Geelong won't be offering up anyone who would still be at Catland when most of the older guys are gone.

Melbourne have simply nothing to offer, nothing. The only possibility would be Trengove, but as a #2 pick and co-Captain that isn't going to happen.

North have Levi Greenwood, a Port Adelaide boy. Him and a draft pick could be attractive.

Cant see Geelong messing around too much, take or leave it would be there offer I'd think.
