People dont call them out on it by refraining from tuning in. The mentality of the media head honchos is that if the ratings are OK, then they're giving the people what they want (or more to the point, deserve).

Agree that too many try to impart a bit of 'Rex' into their calling, including BT, Brayshaw, Dwayno, etc. Too many try and imitate Rex & Dennis Cometti and it's mighty annoying. Having said that, I generally don't mind Dwayno while he isn't trying to out-do Cometti or going off his trolley, ala-Rexy. A good Port Maggies lad and much like the dearly departed Clinton Grybas, a former ABC employee.

Tom Harley is too intelligent to have played 200+ AFL games....

Interesting to compare current AFL commentators with the SANFL tv commentators form yesteryear. Peter Marker, and Brian Cunningham were star players for their clubs, but I don't recall ever hearing much bias when commentating on games.

Likewise David Darcy, and Jerry (his surname escapes my mind) on the ABC who I think played for Norwood.

Agree about Peter Marker, based on the 85 and 86 GF DVD's, although got the sense he may have just had a quiet inward smile at the end of those games

At Etihad last week, North had Melbourne well and truly covered by the early stages of the last quarter. Richo on 3AW said basically that North had won, but BT (in a comedic sort of way) kept chiding him and saying how much time there was left. Richo gave a 100% honest opinion, but BT was wearing the station guernsey - can't have those back yard gardeners tuning out. It went on all quarter. Richo finished up saying "this job confuses me" on air.

My vote for worst media personality - Andrew Maher. Total tool.

For the profile he has, particularly in Melbourne, he must be THE luckiest man in the history of football media. The biggest mystery is who is the person that he has compromising photos of.
