I blame the local downturn on the fact that the local AFL teams might move to Adelaide Oval and that scares the bejesus out of any sane person.
If I decided to go to an AFL match I'd feel happier about being able to find a park in reasonable walking distance and be able to get away from a suburban ground rather than travel both ways through or around the edge of the CBD.
Similarly, I tend to go to Marion rather than Rundle Mall to shop - it may be further, but it is quicker and less frustrating.
