Some of these articles are fantastic

Not any Port in a storm, thanks

FANCY a new home at Port Adelaide, a club that suddenly seems as appealing as the slums of Mumbai?

Not really the publicity club management would want after such massive financial losses.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Well they did until they started annoying everyone. In 1997 I thought I'd check out a few of their games and couldn't get to the Carlton game because it was sold out.

When was the last time they sold out a minor round game that didn't involve the Crows?

I'm guessing Carlton in 1997!

Actually its probably even simpler than what the Article says. Its not just Port Adelaide. Players dont really want to come to adelaide in general, unless there coming home or there are certain reasons for that.

I recall an article back before the Crows were formed and the Victorian hysteria that the player exodus floodgates would flow the other way as players were attracted to the relaxed lifestyle of Adelaide. The reality is in Adelaide and Perth, two team towns mean they're in a fishbowl.

Fishbowl my arse. Everyone who plays in the AFL is in the Fishbowl. Perhaps the only ones who have any degree of anonymity are Sydney players because Sydney doesn't give a rats about the AFL unless the Swans are in the top four.

Did the Fev play in Adelaide or Perth?

err no. The ground didnt even hold near 50,000 when the 'new Port' team came in.

From memory they predicted to hold steady at 30-35 thousand.

I do not think that we will ever know whether it is Port or SA.

During trade week there is only one SA team that is involved.

Yeah i think 50k is excessive. the 30-35 bracket is what we fit when the team is up and running and ive never doubted our ability to get satisfactory crowds when this is the case, but ports numbers drop dramatically when we are cellar dwellars.....iirc we hit 45-50,000 in the prelim final vs the saints in 04....
