Doubtful.

If I was leaving Adelaide would be last club to tell.

Ask Tippett and Bock.

If the crows knew for sure that Danger was going, would they still select him to play each week?

Only if they want to win.
They're in a position to challenge for final this year, they've gotta play him to have any chance.
Does leave them wanting next year if he's not there though

he's a current employee who is moving back home next year.... next year

this year the business requires all employees on board, next year any vacancies will be filled... next year

and also next year, once again, the business will require all employees on board

A player isn't gone until he's gone. Only Dangerfield and those he might have confided in really know if he intends to leave. For all we know he really is weighing things up. Even then, a bloke can change his mind. Also curious whether he's a free agent or restricted free agent.

All in all I don't care right now. He'll make an announcement when he does and speculation on my part does nothing. The media love nothing more than to whip up a story and beat the drums then use their own hype to build things up even more. Anyone who gets carried away is helping the muckrakers sell papers and get viewers.

Yes, restricted.

So any offer he has put to him can be matched by Adelaide. If he is on the move the figure we get to hear will be interesting.

Let's say it's $750k, would Adelaide match that? I think they would. If it's $800k would they? I think they would. Either way, he's set for a nice pay day.

I think that the Crows need to match what ever offer is put before him - too often in the past they have been walk overs and need to show some balls. Match the offer and make Geelong trade for him, they hold more power than the cats so they can demand decent compensation - if Geelong want him they will need to trade. If all this falls through he goes into the draft doesnt he? Is that the pre-season draft or I think that I heard somewhere it was the rookie draft? Both would still make it hard for Geelong to get to him unless he puts a massive price on his own head and that could easily be paid by a Gold Coast IMO. To be honest if the system wasnt so flawed in compensation, the Crows could easily let him walk knowing that they would get a top 5 national draft pick like Melbourne with Frawley - instead they will get the next pick after their first like Hawthorn with Franklin - hardly fair compensation. This is what would force them to play hard ball (if they have it in them, history shows they dont).

Might not just be Geelong in the race for his signature though.

I am sure there would be a heap more than Geelong but most speculation is towards the Cats.

Biggest sign yet that he is leaving and Crows have said they will match. Read some of the quotes by Frank Costa...remembering Dangers Mum and Aunty work for him.

His GF being from Geelong is the most worrying thing haha.

Seriously though Costa saying "it wouldn't be fair for the crows to stand in his way" is the biggest load of crap - it is called restricted free agency for a reason. Basically Costa is arguing for all contracts to not be worth the paper they are written on and players to be able to move freely to whoever they want

Has a club ever matched a price?
Pies still rumoured to be offering $1.4m a year and the Hawks not far behind

Not convinced he is chasing the coin, but it would be pretty hard to turn down that sort of money. It is a massive amount of money to offer one player - no club would match that sort of money - I was more talking about Geelong and purely based on Conners indicating he was either going to Geelong or staying put - but again this sort of money would be hard to turn down. If the cats offer around the 800-1 mil then the Crows should match and force a trade if they can afford to cover it if he stays. Restricted has only been around for a few years and the only player that was worth matching if you had the coin was Franklin and no-one could ever match what Sydney put to him, this is more like that deal rather than any of the others IMO - Frawley to Hawthorn was easy - Melbourne knew they would get pick 4.

I agree with you there. Costa is full of it with that comment.

Not to my knowledge. Mostly because if a player wants to leave why keep them at the club. If they won't play for the jumper then you won't get the best out of them.

If Dangerfield wants better flag opportunities I think that Collingwood and Hawthorn are in front of Geelong, plus the money would be better away from Geelong.
