Privately Carr must be thinking this is the best result for him, there will need to be some patience which is what he needs. Lets say they finished top 4 this year there would have been huge pressure on him to make the next step, now he will get time, and some better draft picks

still get in earlier in the other rounds.

Hearing they will get NAGA access to Cochrane in '26 draft also, which will ease the pain of this year

not getting pick 4 for Bergman (if ladder stays the same as it is now).
NWM is no certainty either, and you'll need to give up a heap to get him too.

Considering Bergman's likely landing spot is St Kilda, i'm not discounting anything

Just discussing on Twitter, 2 years probably right.

He's played 15 games and he's 19. Last year he had Farrell and Houston flanking him this year he's had Sinn ( 10 games ), Burgoyne ( 36 ) and Jones ( 56 ) working around him. Not sure he's lost his form, he hasn't played 20 games and has lots of promise.

Butters I don't have concerns about, Bergman I think will be gone.

Butters loves Kenny, he's the main reason we've held on to him, he wants a flag and it isn't coming from us any time soon, he is gone at seasons end IMO.

Where there is smoke there is generally fire, talk of Boak departing over the years was always extinguished straight away, Houston never died down once it came to light nor has any other decent Adelaide based AFL player in recent history.

Not a first rounder though

If Butters and Bergman go you should get 3 first rounders back. All depends on which clubs the players want to go to
Essendon - 5, 9
Hawks - 8
Richmond - 2, 3
Saints - 6 + Nasiah
Bulldogs - 14
Geelong - 12

Butters is made of stern, loyal stuff as Boak is and there's a bit behind the scenes that will make Butters decision to leave a lot harder.

You'd take pick 8 for Bergman but surely you're not taking a single pick for Butters

Geelong gave up 13,15 and 20 for Jeremy Cameron, he's the only player I can think of in recent memory that you could compare to with the talent on offer.

So it's 3 x 1st rounders or 2 x + the player you have that we want.

Edit - Cameron had played 171 games at GWS, Butters has played 126

So
Bergman to Hawks for Pick 8
Butters to Essendon for Picks 5, 9, 24 (they also have 27)

Geelong also got back 2 x 2nd rounders, so if you want 3 x 1sts you'll be giving up a couple of 2nd rounders as well as Butters.
Also key position are normally valued more than midfielders.
Personally I think you'll get 2 x 1sts for him
