Money paid by sponsor to club diverted to player is salary cap money. Money paid to player by company not involving club is not salary cap money.

So Visy are not involved with Carlton at all? Visy just thought Judd would be a good environmental ambassador and would be happy to pay him $200K even if he didn’t play for Carlton. Visy Carlton and Pratt is there a link in these names?

You might remember a great deal of fuss was made when the Judd / VISY deal was made public. It wasn't secret and the afl allowed it. The crows decided to be secretive about their extra 3rd party payments, and will pay the price.

Or what Jim05 said. ;-)

I bet 17 AFL clubs are madly shredding documents and deleting emails regarding 3rd party deals

For those of you here that like to think what’s written in the media is fact.

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/afl/joel-selwood-delivers-top-value-says-frank-costa/story-e6freck3-1226518788935

FORMER Geelong president Frank Costa says he is confident his third-party deal with captain Joel Selwood will be ticked off by the AFL despite the crackdown on the controversial arrangements

Looks like Geelong may also be excluded from the national draft for 4 years and face a large fine as the Selwood 3rd party has not been lodge with the AFL and Geelong have used deceptive and cheating ways to breach the salary cap.

Anyone want to help out poor old Tassie and tell him the difference between the Selwood and Tippett 3rd party deals?

Read the article Tassie it says board members. Last time I checked the deal is not signed and Costa is not on the Geelong board. ;)

Crows in trouble - CHEATS

Postby Hondo » Sun Nov 18, 2012 6:44 pm

More of these will cone out before the Crows hearing even if it is the Crows leaking it to the media

Each new one makes it harder for the AFL to throw that book despite what many are hoping for.

I think Tassie is trying to point out third party deals are a can if worms if you blokes want to see that or not.

Notice the absence of other club CEOs slamming the Crows cheating 3rd party deals?

More like a collective thinking "ah shit, better ring Ken ... "

No tassie is trying to make out that everybody has done what the crows have done.

Which is Incorrect. 3rd party deals aren't illegal and yes every club would have them. The crows have 6 in total but aren't being charged because they exist.

Underwriting them and having club sponsors funds re-directed to players without declaring them in the salary cap is illegal AND WHAT THE CROWS CONFESSED TO.

3rd party deals are supposed to be "arms length" from the club, so how can the Sheppard deal be considered that when he is a board member?

I think you will find Shepard is a former board member of the AFC and Costa is a former president member at GFC. Maybe Costas arms are just longer than Sheppards?

From my understanding the Crows have been charged over the Tippett deals, the others are under investigation. The Tippett deal the Crows had direct involvement in getting these done which is not allowed. I think that the AFL even initially signed off on the Tippett deals but were kept in the dark about how they were built? (i havent read this anywhere but was mentioned in a conversation somewhere) Costa is no longer part of the Geelong board, he can employ who he likes, just because Costa was involved with Geelong is irrelevant, if I owned a company big enough I would look at employing a player from the team I support before any other team.
As time goes on in this I more and more think that the crows are the ones clutching at straws if they are pointing the finger at others.
