Unless I'm mistaken it's unprecented that a club hasn't removed a coach because they are afraid of the consequences ... why does Hird seemingly have so much power when other coaches can be flicked at will?

Let's see if Essendon have the balls today to remove him ... I doubt they will.

Half the board are on his side and it seems the majority of players are on his side, including most of the influential ones. Several players are threatening to walk if he is sacked
Still believe he will stay until the outcome of the SC notices is known. Obviously depends on if he is willing to cease court action.

How can the Board and Players still support him? He was in charge when this descended into a farce yet they still want him to be back in charge

Only the players can answer that but I do know that the majority want him to stay and they want him to fight the charges, they just dont want any court action to hold up the players process anymore

The very strong perception as an outsider is that Hird is only still there because of his legal threats ... no football club can operate effectively in those circumstances.

He is tearing the club apart and must be removed. If the Board don't, and it appears that they won't at the moment, then gutless is an appropriate term.

A football club is a different place of employment than most. yes, everyone still has employment rights, but it is not unusual to sack people and pay their contracts out without the fear of legal recrimination.

Your club is turning into a laughing stock.

To me he stays until players are proven to have taken banned substances. The minute players are guilty then yes he would have to go.

Nothing to do with legal ramifications IMO.
Atleast half a dozen players have told the club they will walk if Hird is sacked. Seems the playing group are influencing the board, which isnt good either.

The players have been handed SC notices. To be able to hand out those notices they must have the evidence to prove they have taken a banned substance. Hird knows this, Essendon knows this and the players know this. Essendon need to grow some balls and sack the lying cheating dog Hird.

I think the outcome of the SC notices will be the end one way or another for hird. As Jim has said previously and I would tend to agree.

And meanwhile james is bringing down the club that he served so wonderfully well as a player.

Bomber looks certain to take up Gold Coast offer.
