Absolute farce the weekend off and the AFL have to admit they got this one terribly wrong.

Us fans hate it but it sounds like the coaches like it. Some clubs will be able to play guys this week who they might not have been able to use last weekend.

Of course they all love it. We'd all like our sides being cherry ripe for the finals. But it never happens.

Once again the AFL have seriously flawed the history of the game.

Every season there is a hard luck story of good teams not being able to get back their injured stars for finals, or rushing in underdone folks, dropping an unlucky player etc, and other sides battling for a portion of the year but clicking at the right time.

If we want every side to have their best lineup in the finals, scrap the season and play the GF in Round 1.

Melbourne is expecting up to 30mm of rain on Friday, with heavy falls expected just before the first bounce.

Not sure who that favors, to be honest.

Both of those teams lack pace, but I think Geelong would like the rain more than the hawks.

Hope it stays dry in Adelaide saturday night, North would love it to be wet

I think the Cats will enjoy the rain more, but are lack of pace can also and we have shown work in our favour. Look at what did to Adelaide both games stopping their inside run and goal scoring ability.

Didn't we beat them in the wet earlier in the year?

I think it favours the Cats. Hawthorn are space guarders who rely on precision uncontested football. My view is that if Hawthorn aren't taking a lot of marks, they aren't winning.

Rained a little bit that night but wasnt that bad, I was on the hill and didnt get too wet.

I still reckon with their contested players they would love a scrap

Think it favours the Hawks forward line assisting getting the ball to ground without the talls. Not sure about elsewhere on the ground, Geelong could be a bit top heavy

The novelty though of both will wear off if stand alone games in a bye week every year - reckon most only tuned into the womens game out of curiosity.

EJ Whitten game annoys me - I know it's for a good cause etc, but I'd love to see a game a little more serious and not so scripted like a poor mans WWE event.

Couldn't agree more about the EJ game, I said to the lads I'm away with 'why are you watching that shit?', You know Abby Holmes will get 5 handballs in the goal square for 5 goals and there will be a last minute score to complete a 1 point victory to either side!

I was very close.

Max Gawn only got third in Melbourne's B&F wow that's unlucky, By a mile their best player this year. Viney was handy & started well. N Jones second no way was he better than big Maxxy,
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

Clarkson doesn't rate contested ball for a reason, if you're winning contested ball you're in a contest, if you're not winning contested ball you're controlling the ball and that's the Hawks plan.

Hawthorn 17th for contested possession, 16th for contested marks. 6th for total marks.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

I think it favours Hawks. Umps will look for any reason to give a free kick in the conditions, and Hawks have a knack of getting 50/50 umpiring decisions and making the most of it.

Maybe if the Roos could get more then 20k supporters to a home game, they may be able to effect the umpires with home ground advantage.

Lol - points for at least admitting the bias you get at home games, however there are plenty of other clubs that draw big crowds at home that don't get the dream ride you're afforded.
