Chaplin and Pearce have been at the club for a few years now, and have contributed to its current state with inconsistent efforts.

Jacobs is a concern, but the club only has itself to blame as it was probably a poor draft selection, although glandar fever didn't help his cause.

Sounds like everything is fine then :-)

Not sure I said that.

If you want to judge a club purely on player departures, we'd be above the Crows

Which is obviously not the case in recent years on amd off the field.

The PAFC obviously has a lot of problems, but 5 players wanting to leave (for varying reasons) is not the best indicator of such.

PORT ADELAIDE FOOTBALL CLUB MEDIA STATEMENT

Wednesday 3 October 2012

The Port Adelaide Football Club confirms that Danyle Pearce is clear to sign a contract with the Fremantle Football Club and will leave Alberton under new free agency rules.

Port Adelaide general manager football Peter Rohde said after careful consideration the club had decided it would not match Fremantle’s offer for the services of the 26-year-old restricted free agent.

“We have taken time to think about the situation and have resolved that it would be irresponsible in the context of our team structure at Port Adelaide to match the offer put forward by Fremantle,” Rohde said.

“Danyle has made a strong contribution during his eight years at Port Adelaide and we wish him well with his new opportunity in the AFL.”

Pearce was rookie listed by Port Adelaide in 2005 before debuting later that year and going on to play 154 games for the Power. He earned the title of AFL Rising Star in 2006 and was a part of Port Adelaide’s 2007 grand final side.

Port Adelaide is still considering its position in relation to the offer the Richmond Football Club has put to Troy Chaplin, and is also assessing its own options in the free agency period.

Looking at the current list - I would rather a coach casting his influence over the list...

Totally. But in the absence of no senior coach then it would fall to the list manager? other than that would Budha Hocking be looking after the list being the caretaker coach?

This is shaping as Port Adelaides biggest turn over of players ever!

Pearce (Who cares) my understanding is the AFL work out what port get for him?
Chaplin (Again i couldnt care less) Same as pearce
Rodan (I'd like to see him stay) unlikely to stay
Jacobs (Would also like to see him stay but wants out)
McCarthy (Absolute tragedy and will be sorley missed)
Salopek (Fishing for offers shouldve played in front of hitchcock, phillips and the like)
Primus (agree or disagree his gone)

And surley we must delist some of the deadwood we have???

Hitchcock, Salter, Phillips and Pfeiffer (I know people rate him but I'm not 1 of them)
you've gota keep on keep'n on .........

I am just throwing up scenarios here. I hope for ports sake they have a coach in the next week or it may be another long season with the amount of players leaving and no plan on what to do come trade week/ month!

Yeah I know you are... I dont see the big turnover of players as a negative at all.

Completely agree... those players in bold will not help you win a game, let alone get you playing finals footy.

I know it isn't a negative but to have no direction of what the coach wants/ feels the club requires is going to make it an even harder job going in to this trade period and next season.

For example: You have Chaplin leaving. Granted he isn't a KPP, who do you have to fill the void there? Will make it hard to draft if you announce a couch with a day or two remaining during the trade period.

Hope that makes sense ;)

Completely agree... I also have a old couch in the shed that could do a better job at the club than what is there at the moment ;)
