How about 1985?

Best Bombers team I've seen...

Amazing that after 84/85 we disappeared whilst the Hawks went on and dominated.
At the end of 85 the experts said the Hawks were finished and Essendon would rule for years

Nick Malceski's got a pretty good GF memory.

Ditto Jetta.

And Hannebery.

Never mind Adam "Da Mutha F@%kin' Man" Goodes...

Absolutely.

Sheeds reckons Merrett was the difference in '88/89.

Then again, you realize what an amazing achievement it is to win one flag.

Never mind back-to-back. History proves its always been hader to do that in the VFL/AFL.

Just glad Port nabbed one in '04.

Poor old Sainters...

Didnt the Blues kick the first 5 or so goals.

Another great memory was how boring the Essendon vs Melbourne GF was!!!

Apart from Essendon fans its almost the 'forgotten' GF

Won by the probably the most dominant side ever in a season

Yep and unfortunatly for the general public Melbourne managed to somehow make the GF.

Essendon got to the lead early just coasted in cruise control to finish line, the game never reached any great heights and the winner was a cert.

I asked the guys individualls at work today to list the GF's in the 00's and the last one all 5 could remember was the ess vs melb one.

The carl vs nth melb '99, ess vs mel '00 were two bad years for AFL GF's

look at the 90's and you had some memorable ones and some forgettable ones
1994-95 Geelong were there to make up the numbers. 99-00 were the same the sides that should have been there never were there. North Melbourne should have made 95. Essendon in 99. It is the better side on the day that gets there.

The only VFL/AFL GF ive been to:
1989 - Langford mark over Ablett in defence in the last quarter.
Pure skill, ...even though Ablett was dominating, it probably saved the game from the fast finishing cats.
The whole day was awesome though.
