Phil Davis to GWS

He is a very smart young man is Phil. Good luck to him. Hope he plays 200 for GWS.

Walker will still go I think. If the Crows don't trade him, can GWS pick him up in the pre season draft?

Agree with that too

you would think it would be closer too $850000 over 3 years. no way a 20yr old is worth anymore.

either way    crows!

Not only are we bottoming out when the drafts are totally comprimised, but we're also having to deal with our best young players being poached. FFS.

Man the life boats Crows fans, Iceberg dead ahead. Forget the women and children, tickets off the ship look like they'll going to the highest ******* bidder.

Look on the bright side. You got an extra half a season out of Edwards and an extra year out of McLeod and Goodwin and an extra...um...something out of Burton. You could see this 5hit coming from a mile off. Even the captain of the Titanic did it better.

Not sure what more could've been done to avoid it TBH. Maybe cut the veterans a year earlier and hit bottom sooner, but that's about it.

We're just the lucky ones to have our turn at the arse of the cycle when things are compromised, hooray for us.

I reckon Burton had to be cut at least a year earlier and a tough decision needed to be made on one of McLeod and Edwards. I've been stirring the pot about this with you lately but here are Geelong letting Laidler go and keeping Milburn. Mooney is another who is a bit lucky to be retained in my view.

Who's to say Davis will be any good anyhow. Huge risk in picking up a bloke who just had a shoulder reco. Shoulders are the easiest part of the body to injure when they've gone. Just ask Porps.

Good luck to him if he can play 3 years of footy, and good luck eating the Falafels.....

They'll pay over the odds for Scully as well and his knees aren't great. Melbourne may have dodged a bullet. They get to keep Trengrove and should get compensated for losing a number one draft pick. Meanwhile the Giants' medical tent will be fuller than Oliver Reed.

Searching for a positive from a negative, are the Crows able to bank the picks they get from Phil Davis and use them in 2 years time (Geelong have done so with a pick from Gablett I believe)? So assuming we get 2 first round picks for Davis, it cant be too bad considering next year is expected to be comparable to the Hodge/Judd Super Draft.

I thought Davis would be a gun but I dont think its a huge loss. We have Talia and Thompson that have both shown a bit, thinking that Moran might have chucked in a few $$ for Phil as well as it may get him another year on the list. Some tough choices on who to keep between Sellar, Young and Moran as backup.

Matt Rendell has suggested the asking price for the underagers is going to be massive so wouldnt bank on getting any bargains this year in exchange.

Buckley's chance of getting 2 first rounders. 1 late first round pick.

Off course he isnt as good as Ablett but compensation isnt based on what Geelong got for Ablett, its based on age, draft pick and salary. If the rumours are around the mark to what his salary is, he is a lot younger than GAJ and a first rounder compared to a 3rd round (father son) and therefore, according to the criteria is a very valuable commodity.

I'm just wondering who they will get from the Swans. Lewis Johnston, Jesse White, Trent Dennis-Lane would be contenders. As long as they leave Mumford, Reid and Rohan alone. [-o<

It shows the stupidity of the people running the club to allow us to tread water for the last few years, it's not like they didn't know GC and GWS were coming in. It was clear our premiership chances were over in 2007 yet they and Craig have been refusing to bottom out for the last four years while dragging out the careers of players like Edwards, McLeod and Burton.

I thought Burton should have gone first, then McLeod before Edwards, but I agree they were all kept too long.

Good luck to him, people may bag him but loyalty is rarely there now.Sav Rocca said what he found playing in the NFL that majority of players dont care about playing for a certain team, all that matters is the money they are earning.Total different lifestyle as well where he isnt noticed in public.

Anyone heard the Jaensch tweet, I'll paraphrase:

"Phil Davis is going to GWS for a multitude of reasons... 800,000 of them..."
