Cuzzy is just a face to the drugs.
Everyone thinks drug users are bums but I'm yet to meet someone in my age group (I'm 25) that hasn't tried drugs.
I know lads playing afl that love getting on it.
He wasn't the first nor the last and I commend him on putting it out there to make people aware.
Drugs are huge in gen y...
This doco will save so many lives from the thousands of parents talking to their kids tonight.

I'm in that bracket (age), and I haven't tried anything illegal, but my facebook was clogged with notifications about Cuzzy, about ice, about the blondes, etc, really glamourising drug use, and he clearly has a pantheon of young people who want to be like him

Ditto MP - that's exactly what I am seeing on Facebook as well.
I'm finding it a tad sad actually.
Hopefully these 'mostly teens' will see a different side tomorrow night and take it a bit more seriously.

I'm 23, and although i joke about taking drugs, rooting a heap of women, breaking the law and what not, the truth is, i bust my balls for 50+ hours a week to provide a living for me, my fiance and my 3 year old son, and dont mind having a few beers on the weekend with my mates.

please dont take what you see on facebook and the like as what is actually going on out there. i talk that much carp on facebook about what i'm doing/going to do that if i done half the stuff, i'd be in jail/mental institute/sex dungeon in austria.

The shots of Cousins off his face dancing, sitting in the kitchen etc. etc, are these re-enactments or actual footage of him when he is on the gear?? If he is acting, he is bloody good! Possibly a bit of method acting though?

I think I heard today on the radio that the only re-enactment was when he was running from booze bus.

Ben Cousins is not an orphan- in football or away from football.
There are people from all walks of life who do what he did.
Ben let his partying (drugs) get in the way of his footy- no different to what many professionals, tradies or labourers do, & yes, if they go too far, it can cost them their job.
Drug addiction knows not whether your wealthy or poor.

People just seem mainly annoyed that a guy who has it all, is not living up to their expectations.
What started out as having some fun, ended up controlling him- he was guilty of wanting a good time all the time.
Ben has let himself & his family down first, & foremost- then as his life became more about partying than football, he let his team-mates down.
He needs help to get out & stay out of his destructive lifestyle, which it appears has happened.

Congratulations Ben Cousins on a wonderful career.

word of mouth can get you nearly anything- you get 10 young blokes together, someone will know someone.

prowling panther wrote:2. Why have not these pushers been brought to justice?

a naive view- if someone wants something, they will get it.
The term "pusher" is a term for those who are clueless, yet want someone to blame for their whoever it is close to them, who has ended up with an addiction.
These (addicts) generally use drugs to fill a void in their life.

As you may have guessed i didn't watch it to night or will be watching tomorrow night.

perhaps if you had watched it, you may have learned somthing.

I don't see a problem with him getting paid for the doco.

We pay counsellors and drug prevention workers, how is this any different?

The price they paid reflected the amount of exposure both 7 and the story would get.

I applaud the doco and how it didn't shy away from the hard stuff.

I found the footage of him smoking a crackpipe sickening.

I liked the way he kept reiterating that for most of the time of his addiction, he didn't think he was addicted and how it all came down when he ended up alone in and American hospital.

As for the facebook reaction, I saw it was mostly girls commenting on how hot he is and the guys who rated his behaviour were generally drug f*cks already.

If people watched that doco, with footage of his family crying and the like, and still come out thinking Ben's behaviour was 'cool', then they are dumber than him.
Right in front of me. RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!
