Don't worry Booney we won't get them.

One of the two World Cups will go to Europe every 2nd World Cup has been held in Europe and with 2010 in Africa and 2014 in South America you can lock it in that one of the 2018 or 2022 World Cups will be held there - most probably Spain/Portugal.

The other one will go to North America - the USA. Would've been at least 24 years since the World Cup was held there compared to 16 years for in Asia, the US economy and stadia already in existence and finally they can play games during the day and beam them back prime time to Europe.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

The domestic comp is only a very small part of it all, do a survey of anyone who follow sports in this country and Soccer would be in the top 3 sports followed....

As for rarely getting over 10k rarely, might want to check the facts there Boon....

I went purely on what I see on FOX and the attendances at Hindmarsh. I will look into it.

*Edit - Melbourne regularly 20k+ Sydney 12k+ Adelaide 10k+ - The average crowd of just over 9k is propped up by these 3 clubs. The rest are about the 6-8k mark *

Remember that the WC has been held in the US Booney.

It ain't about the local comp, it's about $$$$.

Average A-League crowd this year is 9,700 with Hindmarsh being 11,700 and only once under 10k this season. All games are live on TV

As I said, Melbourne ( 20k+ ) Sydney ( 12k+ ) and Adelaide ( 10k+ ) prop this figure up markedly.

Even though the spectators might be down compared to other sports, the participation rates for soccer, especially juniors, far outweigh cricket and footy. By at least double in most council areas within Adelaide. It would be a fair assumption it would be similar right around Oz. With all these immigrants, boat people and 2nd generation muliculturals settling in our great country, they are bringing the soccer culture with them.

I think he's referring to the crowds. Both have poor attandances.

I know he is, but the A-League average 9k where as Port average ( in 2009 ) 25k. So his point is irrelevant, off the mark and purely a troll. A poor one at that.

So basically as many people go to an A-League match as attend an SANFL round based on 2009 figures. All teh more proof why teh SANFL and AFL clubs need to be rpotected in this deal.

Yep, and A-League is live against the gate every match
