Fevola Sacked

Talk on the national game

I'd keep him, sit him in reserves 5 rounds, add instant sacking for alcohol fuelled indiscretion clause and move on.
What's the big problem, he got pissed and embarrassed himself, that's not exactly crime of the century.
He is too valuable to Carlton... goalwise and marketing. People pay to see Fevola. Next time you go to a Carlton game in Melbourne check out how many supporters have no.25 guernseys on their backs!!

Fair point but they didn't improve.

First year as captain they won the flag. I think they did!

Did on the field (by a goal) but off the field not, hence the comment that when you're winning things get swept under the carpet.

I dont no why u mentioned the (by a goal) bit. It doesnt matter if u win by 1 point or 119 points.

Infact, WCE beat Sydney by 1 point.

But the fact is, i think they did improve under Judd. They had less problems off the field. From when Judd took over, to when Judd finished at WCE, there is no doubt they were in a better place off the field

They improved by a goal from the year before.

Not disputing that he's a great player but is not a great leader as implied in original post without going into it again.

I know you were implying about his leadership qualities. I tend to disagree. So lets just agree to disagree, we are not going far

Bayman, I've said on another thread, it's entrapment. They knew he'd make a d*ck of himself, but still gave him the camera. Someone from Channel 9 should've shown a duty of care and said "hang on...." but they didn't. They've got off very lightly in the whole scheme of things.

Sure they are factors in this, but it all comes back to Fev having some self control himself, he could have controlled himself and the above stuff wouldnt even come into it - trying to blame others is pretty futile

Fevola's a better player than Hall and less crazy on the field.

bulldogs couldnt afford fevolas $700,000+ contract he is contracted so he has to be paid that amount wherever he goes.

Ill ask this again, for the second time, why wouldnt the Bullies be able to afford him????

I still don't see what Fev has done that is so bad but that's not the point. Sure his wife, team mates, channel 9 could have tried to control Fev on the night but they are not obliged to. Isn't a licenced venue legally obliged to refuse service of alcohol to a person who is intoxicated? Where is the outrage at the Crown in all of this and more to the point where are the fines they should receive for breaching the conditions of their liquor licence?

Supposedly Fevola also touched up some chick too among throwing up on/over a balcony and ridiculing Nathan Brown to his face. The footage we've all seen is just the stuff they can show. If he was a scrub he would've been sacked ages ago.

Looks like Carlton are doing the only thing they can do, their hands are tied. They can't trade him, who would want him and his bloated contract? So Sticks (of all people) is just trying to scare him, he's not going anywhere and I think it was Mike Sheahan who said it was his last contract that had an alcohol clause in it not this current one.

Fevola is scum then. Fancy behaving the way he did with his kids up stairs and his partner present. What a terrible parent/human being, I feel sorry for his children.

What happens in the future when there is no more footy, no more cameras and just the drink? What happens to those kids? Maybe he won't be such a happy drunk then, when the fame of being a "professional" sportsman has past him by. How far into the alcoholism and brain damage will Channel 9 employ him after his footy career is over?

How can we be living in a society where some people on here view his behaviour as normal and "just having a bit of fun and a drink". It is not normal, he has an alcohol problem, fair enough if his drinking doesn't impact on others, but it is quite clear that it does, in many ways. We already have enough of a national alcohol problem in this country, we don't need a generation of kids that look up to Brendan Fevola to see him disrespect women, his peers, his partner and his own ******* children, and think that is what you do to be a success.

Then, after all that you have his footy playing. Sure he kicks heaps of goals, but does little else, doesn't chase, doesn't tackle and has a huge whinge/spray at any player on his own team that doesn't kick the ball to him, or more often when he **** up/drops a mark. It can't be good for a team to have such a selfish player as an attacking spearhead.
