Or did we gain 5 roster spots and a little bit of cash?

4 out of 5 of those players were well and truely on the down anyway, if not already there.

It's a list, not a roster and all 5 we're still in you're best 22 despite being over the hill and cooked.

List, roster...same shit.

I know factual comparisons are not accepted here, but those over the hill and cooked players finished two spots above the team we shall not name full of virile youngsters in their prime.

So that dig means sweet FA.

Then on the other hand, if they're over the hill and cooked, shouldn't a team move them on?

You seem very hypocritical Boon. Can't really win either way.

You had 5 blokes play the bulk of 2016 who kept younger blokes out of the side that won 2 of the last 12 games. All 5 played in your losing elimination final.

Do you think Petrie, Firrito and Dal Santo were worth persevering with past about round 17? Nope, the writing was on the wall and instead of getting some time into the next batch they kept playing these blokes to no avail.

It doesn't matter what I think. The experienced coaches and list managers did what they did. The teams consistently made finals, which can't be said for a lot of other teams, but the clubs talked about like they're the f**kin Lions.

Yeah, the Roos haven't really been a contender, but you look at the list at the start of each season, and 90% of people would write them off there and then as 10th.

How about the clubs that have a ton of players picked early in the draft. Midfields solely consisiting of players drafted in the top 10, under performing year after year.

Norths reluctance to bottom out has left the club stuck with making the best of a mediocre situation, and I think they're doing alright.

Yes! Here we are. You've acknowledged you haven't really been a contender ( despite 3 finals series in a row and 2 prelims in two years ) yet the experienced coaches and list managers stuck with the same formula.

What do they say about doing the same thing over and over again?

Most teams would kill for 2 prelims and one elimination final in 3 years.

I say we should cut about 4 or 5 older guys that arent getting the job done, and go with youth and use the room on the list to build some depth.

What do you think?

He signed a 3 year deal last year worth more than the Eagles can afford.

Not to mention the compensation the Roos would want for an AA ruckman.

Doubt it'll happen.

But Goldstein quashed any suggestions earlier this month he was looking at a move away from Arden Street.

"I've never had that conversation with my manager and I can't see that happening any time soon," he told Fox Footy's AFL Tonight.

"Definitely at this stage I'm planning on staying at North Melbourne.

"I was definitely surprised the week after I heard, one, the club were looking to trade me off, and two, that I'd actually been looking for one [a trade].

"On both aspects, that's news to me, and as far as I'm aware nothing's going on there."
