Blight teams were good but did not underachieve with the possible exception of the 1992-93 seasons. The one that got away was 1992 but as Squiddley said above West Coast were a fair side.

We lost to the Hawks of the eighties, West Coast of the nineties, and the only Carlton side to win a flag in the AFL era, the term used by supporters teams that know how to draft players and haven't been crap in the current century.

I was so hopeful that day but we were just blown out of the water. Carlton could have won that by over a hundred but the celebrations started early and we got some junk time goals. We had to wait another 12 years.

They dont include VFA records.
The current records start when the VFL//AFL started in 1897 and the VFA then became the second tier.
If you included the VFA flags then Essendon have 20 but for some reason they dont acknowledge the first 20 years of football

they shouldnt include VFA or VFL records its as crazy as port supporters saying they have won 32 premierships.

Obviously the swans don't have a better record then geelong, but 3 grand finals, 2 flags, i reckon we have only missed the finals once in the past decade... pretty impressive record.

What is so hard for people to understand that the VFL was only renamed the AFL, its the exact same competition and as such all records carry through and this will never change. Its exactly the same as when the English Div 1 was renamed the EPL

The debate goes around in circles but seriously the AFL is just a renamed rebranded VFL with sides from other states that play in it.

It would be nothing different to if the SANFL let an NT side in the comp and then started calling itself the SANTFL it would still just be a continuation of the SANFL
