My album "History and Sympathy" comes out on Monday.

We'll be back in 2021 anyway.

I am not sure Port will be back.

I dont think any business or industry knows the full financial ripple this has/is going to cause for the next few years. No one can estimate what will happen with sponsorship dollars, membership numbers, crowd numbers etc.

Personally i think the AFL and all its club will be purely in survival mode for the next 5 years.

Ran into the impossible in 91, 03 and 12 but snuck one in 15... not all that bad!
Seems every year we make the GF we get smashed by the AFL draft.

PORT BACK IN THE PRISON BARS

Port Adelaide will wear its traditional SANFL prison bar guernsey in Round 2’s Showdown.

Power chairman David Koch confirmed the club would don the black and white on June 13 against Adelaide.

“Ultimately this magnificent black-and-white guernsey belongs to our people. It’s our people’s guernsey,” Mr Koch said.

“We had always planned to wear it to open our 150th anniversary at home, and since the COVID shutdown we were assessing as to what that would mean for this game. We just checked ourselves to make sure that our people still wanted us to wear it in Round 2 despite the fact they couldn’t be there with us.

“It’s clear that our people want this guernsey worn in the Round 2 Showdown to celebrate our 150th anniversary, and as a club we could not agree more.

“And there is no better time than against our South Australian rivals. Our players can’t wait to wear the Prison Bar guernsey on the national stage and will do so with great pride to celebrate and honour the legacy of those Port Adelaide players who have come before us.

“Although very different to how we had all imagined, this is a significant moment for our Club as we open our 150th year at Adelaide Oval, next Saturday night in a Showdown, in the Prison bars.”

So they have always planned and allowed to wear the wharf pylon guernsey for rd 2. Kochie makes a song and dance about maybe not wearing it which creates a story...then announces they will wear it (still) which creates another story.

This is 2020 AFL media on the dot...

Given we're only "allowed" to wear it when granted permission by the AFL it's reasonable for the club to consider keeping that opportunity up it's sleeve to do so in front of the supporters.

Id have no issue if they wear it again later in the season in front of fans, surely the AFL wouldn't either

I have not followed this all that closely, but isn't Eddies beef about Collingwood "owning" black & white stripes?

As a non Port supporter, that old prison bar Guernsey is a classic.

So go with the same design, but incorporate the teal into it, so its black, white AND teal stripes.... then Eddie's stuffed!

McGuire was talking about Port not being allowed to use the Magpie emblem instead of the guernsey itself. Imagine, McGuire making an uneducated comment. 2020 keeps throwing curve balls.

I hate Port as much as the next bloke but the whole Guernsey fiasco from Collingwood is a joke.

If Man United and Liverpool can both wear red tops and become two of the biggest superpowers in global sports marketing history im sure Collingwood and Port can survive.

If anything it would probably just add fuel to their rivalry and be a great marketing tool for Collingwood to raise home attendance against a traditional smaller attending club.
