I used my fact-o-meter and it found none here :D

I think Brisbanes dominant 3 premierships in a row will take a very long time to beat.

1. The first season of the AFL was in 1990
2. Geelong 13.14.92 d. Brisbane Lions 9.11.65

The ONLY thing Brisbane did that Geelong did not was win three flags in a row. Winning percentage, most grand finals, highest league score, equal most flags all to Geelong. Geelong also did not get the benefit of a club merger, they have never had an extended salary cap. Brisbane did not lose their coach after their second flag nor did they lose their best player to a rival club.

If Brisbane's 2001 is equal to Geelong's 2007 then that means we are going to finish tenth this season (If our 2013 is their 2007). Your fact o meter is up the frizz. Lay off the Crowvertiser buddy.

REB

In fact, there's not a lot of difference between the two teams over the six-year period of success.

Lions
1999 4th
2000 5th
2001 1st
2002 1st
2003 1st
2004 2nd

Cats
2007 1st
2008 2nd
2009 1st
2010 3rd
2011 1st
2012 7th

Brisbane
2005 11th
Geelong
2013 Equal top

AFL started in 1990 was it?
Add the stats of the 90s in too.
Geelong are so clearly on top its not funny with wins/losses.
God, imagine how far the gap would be if you threw in Fitzroy and the Bears stats.
Geelong have easily the best record of the AFL era and there's no sign of them dropping off markedly.

Looks to me as though he left the ground to smother the footy, but missed and collected Lyons on the way down.

Correct Q.
Had .1 of a second to protect himself as well as not destroy the Crows player.
A shirt front is still legal wtf.
Ziebell could have sent him into next week if he wanted too.

if he wanted to protect himself then why did he leave the ground and make high contact? He's made the decision to go from the smoother to making contact, then he's made another decision to leave the ground and collect him high.

If you are talking all that time we have 14 flags as we did pretty well in the VFA in the 1880's. In terms of underachieving in the VFL era then that is a fair call. Our VFA history has us as a leader, Our VFL history has us as a middle of the road side and our AFL history has us as THE leader.

Our biggest underachievement for me is when we only picked up one flag with guys like the Lord twins, Polly Farmer, Sam Newman and Billy Goggin running around during the 1960's. Darn that Hafey and Barassi!

Continuing on with the Catter history lesson, Geelong disbanded during the Second World War and we lost many players to rival clubs, most notably Lindsay White to South Melbourne I think it was. When we re-entered the league we promptly picked up a spoon. Proudest spoon in league history. ;)

They dont include VFA records.
The current records start when the VFL//AFL started in 1897 and the VFA then became the second tier.
If you included the VFA flags then Essendon have 20 but for some reason they dont acknowledge the first 20 years of football

Was mentioned on AFL360 last night that Heath Shaw was left out of the game against Sydney because of his skin fold tests were not satisfactory
Wouldve though his ability would far outweigh being a few kilos too heavy

Thanks for the history lesson mate and yes I do agree that your 7 years have been awesome and I do like the cats and the way they play todays game , I would also think the cats under achived in the Blight era by not winning a flag in the late 80s early 90s with the greats of that era at geelong Ablett , couch , brownless , stoneham , riccardi etc .. should have one at least 1 in that time imo .

Actually Red West Coast are the best clean team of the 'afl area' which is a term people use when their club was a joke for the previous 100 years.

Blight teams were good but did not underachieve with the possible exception of the 1992-93 seasons. The one that got away was 1992 but as Squiddley said above West Coast were a fair side.

We lost to the Hawks of the eighties, West Coast of the nineties, and the only Carlton side to win a flag in the AFL era, the term used by supporters teams that know how to draft players and haven't been crap in the current century. ;)
