Was almost like they'd been told to wait for the 'perfect world' option, or to always hold the ball as long as possible before moving it on. Either terrible decision making, or they had been instructed to play that way.
That reminds me of the Crows in Neil Craig's later years.

What the hell was Petrenko thinking? He's got dodgy shoulders as it is and then decides to go run into Mumford in an incident that was never going to have any impact on the play. Just not clever.

I disagree. While he yet may turn out to spud the rest of his career up, this should not contribute to that.

In a game where his team could not get a spare millisecond without being accosted by the swans pressure, Petrenko disposed of the ball and did what ever he could to provide his team mate with space to make a decision. He attempted to provide a shepard and show his team what is required by physical strength and aggression. It was just unfortunate that that was Mumford, someone who probably has nearly 50kg's on him.

Still he hit him hard enough to fracture a cheek bone.

If it was the other way around and it was young Mitchell on Ben Rutten, I know that Mitchell probably wouldn't get a game next week for being soft, and not going when it was his turn to go.

Perhaps there is your 77 point difference - Sydney have 22 players expected to do what Petrenko did, without a second thought.
