A bloke calling out 'crowd influence' on umpires from the Club who is the most consistent beneficiary of crowd influence and plays in the most crowd friendly environments year on year is funny.

Didn't hear him mention the crowd influence when they umpires were too gutless to make the same call v North this year or when Dawson got an arm across the face in the dying seconds of the Crows game last year. In those games the dominant Collingwood crowd was up, vocal and the umpires didnt have the nerve to go against it.

Sit down Fly.

We're talking about home crowd influence, you should probably sit this one out too tarp boy ;)

No shit Motlock, the home crowd may or may not have influenced the non decision, but The Pies were robbed RIFOM.

It's a fair take on the 50. If it was at the mcg we probably would have got it.
Simple fact the umpires are influenced at some level by the crowd pressure they feel.

What I've learnt from this season is we can't protect a lead and stall sides momentum.

Back when Adam was a kid when I played, we were taught that when teams got a run on it went back to man on man, like in his boots close and turn it into a slog. No fancy shit back to the basics. Beat your man or at least halve the contest.
Not sure that's the tactic today though.
Heeney was the classic case. Someone should've gone to him and been in his boots close. No handovers and zone defence on him, be on his right shoulder the whole time.
Anyhow our seasons done but hopefully we can get something out of the last few games.

I only watched the last 10 mins of the last quarter, and I reckon there were half a dozen head scratching decisions, they’re getting worse if that is even possible.

I can accept poor decisions or non-decisions made in the early quarters but the umpires are winning the close games and not the players far to often.
Now it's either because the pressure gets to them, they're incompetent at the level, or they let their ego get involved.
Far too many poor calls have decided games this year but Dillon thinks the umpiring has never been better.
It's the worst I've seen.
