Well we finally held on in a close'ish one. I'm happy but not ecstatic - the Cats were down key players, but so were we.

The Cats didn't seem to run in numbers and spread like they have in previous years. They looked flat.

In other news, the Eels won, so both the Blues and Eels get off the duck, with wins over last years premiers! Go us!

I thought we were going to get blown away last night that's how poorly we were travelling. I think any obits on any particular players is a tad premature but it's obvious plenty are not running on all cylinders. I don't think the plan was for Tom Hawkins to play early but the injury of the backup Neale has left us a little short, to pardon the pun. Yeah Tuohy wasn't great last night but those writing him off may have forgotten his brilliant two goal start against the Pies last week. Allow me a quiet chuckle if I may. I'm a hundred percent convinced Touhy will play many games better than that one. I'm sure he deserves a mulligan as long as we don't see it too often.

Hopefully the media will do the right thing and put the heat on our boys because a wounded Cat could become a dangerous Cat. The biggest problem i see is in midfield. Captain Dangerfield has been anonymous by his standards so far this year but he put in a few clunkers earlier in the season last year around this time as well. Cameron Guthrie has been atrocious there's no other words to describe his output so far. It's no coincidence that when he lifted his rating in towards the end of the third and start of the fourth that Geelong got into the game. With so many defenders out we simply can't afford to get spanked in midfeld as well. Another midfielder who is at the crossroads a bit already this season is Tom Atkins. He had a good season last year but so far in his career a four quarter performance has eluded him. We need a more consistent contribution from Atkins.

This Cat is still content but yeah a win next week would be nice lads after what has been three subpar performances so far this year.

REB

Gold Coast, Hawthorn, West Coast then Sydney before Essendon and Adelaide to come. I think you'll be fine.

Seeing as your mob will more than likely not be playing in September, get on board the Blues mate.
We appreciate your support! ;)

Jermey Clayton's at times freakish goalkicking accuracy , was very Roger Woodcockesque

I don’t get the hate. I definitely won't watch Roaming Brian though, very cringey.

Brisbane midfield all over Melbourne in that qtr. The big O dominating the ruck at the moment. I know Gawn went down but you still have Grundy.

Got changed about five years ago, has to be in a manner to cause injury if there are opposition hands near the ball.

In other words if it’s a toe poke it’s play on

Ashcroft has been very clean with his hands, looks Brisbane have got themselves a beauty!

He’s certainly been better than the Queensland Power Grid!!

Always amazing how commentators don't know the regulations regarding this sort of stoppage. It was only a few years ago when Melbourne and West Coast went off for a while due to a storm, then came back on.

45 seconds to go- was that a Free Kick for front on contact not paid to Brayshaw just inside the 50m line ?

Just as well there were 50,000 Dolphins just over the river.
