The deliberate was a terrible call. The holding the ball call was ok.

The problem I have with the holding the ball call was how many other times does that exact same situation result in a quicker whistle and a ball up. Reckon any umpire can just let the play go and go and go and it will always result in holding the ball for no genuine attempt. Dont think Stringer had any prior

Not sure it was a good game. I guess close games make for good viewing but each to there own.

For what's it's worth I thought the better side on the night lost.

Stringer clearly wanted the boundary, I thought he didn't make any attempt until he was dragged back inside play.
But yes, happens a lot over the course of a game for a non call or exceptionally quick call.

Holding the ball for sure. He was just looking to grab the ball and kill it. Thought the deliberate was right too, seemed pretty clear he just wanted to slap if over the line. I think it's great to see umpires actually making calls late in games, just a debacle when they put the whistle away because it's late in the game. The rules don't change, either let it go all game or call it all game.

The earlier one that Moore got seemed to be paid for him hitting the fence. It was a nasty collision, but he pitched himself towards the fence the way he fell. Certainly not a free for the defender propelling him over the boundary. Moore definitely should have gotten a free though. Not for hitting the fence, but because the defender spoiled him in the side of the head.

Agreed, I thought it fairly low quality but the closeness kept some minor interest. I've never seen people leave a game quicker than the Pies people around me last night, they nearly ran out. Some dogs would've been very nervous when their owners got home last night.

The deliberate was harsh
The holding the ball was there, he was clearly punching the ball back underneath him....

Another "he was fortunate" call to go with the "Clarko would be happy with that" MRP decision for Fraudthorn.
