Franklin 1.4 mil = Mumford $450000 + Bolton $300000 + Mattner $300000 + White $200000 + Morton $150000.

Once again, the swans showing all how it's done in regard to trading/recruiting/drafting. Got to give something to get something.

Question I'm not sure on.
If Hawthorn match the offer can we then trade him a week later?
If Franklin loves the Hawks so much surely he insists that the Hawks get looked after with draft picks from $ydney and that a trade is done rather than through free agency.
Mumford plus pick 14 and another 1st round pick that $ydney will have to trade for would satisfy me.

I'm also surprised he would want to go to a club that hung him out to dry only 4 weeks ago.

Days im not sure about being able to trade him if you match the offer. But its not even the free agency period so ill assume both parties will sit down at the trade table first before its a free agency grab.

I would expect maybe mumford and a first round pick. I think that would be a good result.

hawks afford more then the swans, and still didn't want to say... shane Crawford tweeted it

Already delisted Alex Brown. Who knows what sort of contracts players are on? Front/Back ended? How do you know Sydney didn't have some unspent dollars in their salary cap? Maybe because your guessing like everyone on here and in the media?

Riccuito is saying its a 9 year deal (maybe an assistant coaching role when finished playing) & his info is the deal was done in May. Apparently he was always going to a Sydney club coz his girlfriend lives there.

Statement from Sydney

THE Sydney Swans can confirm that an offer has been made to Lance Franklin’s management under the AFL free agency rules.

We are pleased that Lance has expressed his desire to join the Swans.

There is a due process that needs to be followed under the AFL free agency rules.

The Swans intend to lodge the offer with the AFL on Friday at the commencement of the free agency period. At that point, the Hawthorn Football Club will have the right to match the offer.

The Club is not in a position to make any further comment at this stage.

Ok another question.

For ease of mathematics il use round numbers.

If $ydney offer 1 mill a year and the cost of living is 10% of that, does that mean the Hawks only have to offer 900k to match it?

Should make it easy to match the offer then WUB12.

For those that say he should be able to play where he wants, that right is only afforded to him in 2 years time when he becomes an unrestricted free agent. Buddy also has to understand if the Hawks match it he must stay.
I really dont care if he goes, just dont want him going to someone we may have to beat to win the flag,
Will be very disappointed if Buddy allows $ydney to claim him with no compensation to the Hawks
