Yep them guys are blight on the game and FIFA are slowly weeding it out of the game.

It's undeniable though that the 'acting' for a free is definatly creeping into the AFL.

I've never felt the need to go on to a Soccer forum with a 'comparing' or 'my sport is better than your sport' thread. I can enjoy Soccer at times but it's a bit like mid strength beer...you'll drink it if nothing else is available but once the Super is out it's game on.

I haven't once said either sport is better just that I can enjoy both sports and that imho both have different strengths and weaknesses that make me watch both.

Neither are skill less sports and imho having played over ten years of both footy and soccer both have a different physicality required.

One is tough, uncompromising and action packed while the other is nothing more than over the top acting by over paid nancys who take every opportunity to simply lay down.

Sad part is with bloke like Lindsay Thomas and Kane Cornes the gap is closing every week, diving forward when tacked is the AFL's version of Soccer players diving when ankle tapped

Earning a free kick when someone falls into your back is one thing, flying like a trapeze stunt gone wrong when a shadow drifts by you is another.

Have u never sprinted as fast as u posibly can and then get ankled tapped by another bloke who sprinting his fasted, you are going to fall over every single time (admittedly there are alot that carry on)

My point more is players are now diving or making frees happen from acting in AFL more than ever, even daves admitted he took contact and folded to win the sliding rule free

I don't think it's gotten any worse in the afl. Players have been staging for free kicks ever since I can remember. One thing that has changed is you can be reported for staging in the afl. Nearly all players would hate that black mark against their name. Yes I'm aware you can get a yellow card in soccer for diving.

Demetriou is of European descent, where soccer is the sport played en masse, could his european heritage be inflencing the way he wants Aussie Rules to head? ie, non-contact?
