David King at it again last night.
Geelong's most important player: Lonegran.
GWS's most important player: Phil Davis, not as out there as Lonegran but could think of at least 5 more important.

Not such a bad call on Lonners. He is our number one key defender. Doesn't get a lot of recognition but does a bloody good job most weeks. Selwood and Johnson more important I'd say but Lonners might be next in line. Very underrated even by a few Cats fans.

Really, I would've thought Scarlett & Harry would hold more importance down back, sure enough he generally gets the best defender but it means the other two can play a bit more of their own game.
I would've also thought Bartel, Selwood and Johnston would hold more importance and Tomahawk would be a darkhorse as their sole consistent tall forward, despite his obvious flaw he is a fair barometer of the side.

Lonergan allows Harry and Scarlett to play on the 2nd and 3rd FWD hence they can peel off and are so offensively valuable. If he isnt there, one of them is basically taken out of the game. Tmo is no mug when he gets the ball either, a very good 1 on 1 mark as well

Basil - the bloke has no idea

Played a couple league footy games for West Perth in the mid 90's. Then decided to concentrate on his media career...

Basil Zemplias played (in between frequent injuries) five seasons for West Perth so it was more than just a couple of games.
But you're right that he quit specifically to concentrate on his media career. He stopped playing midway through the 1994 WAFL season.

He was a handy ruckman and key forward and had a huge vertical leap. Trouble was he was basically too soft and injury prone. To his credit he admits that he "..liked the lights but not the fights.." and always had designs on being a media personality.

He irritates me with his over-the-top efforts to sound ocker and his insistance in referring to goal and boundary umpires by their names.

Also I wish I could have a dollar for every time he says "beautiful", "beautifully done" or "fair dinkum".

What are you saying sorry for LOL. A bit late with the Scarlo call. He's been an angry Cat this season. I hope he pulls his head in and finishes his career in a better note than what he's showed this season. We need our experienced men to lead with a younger side on the park these days. Harry is a gun but I thought Lonnergan went past him last season but good call on Bartel. Tommy isn't our most valuble until he can kick the goals a LOT more regularly than he does.

Karl Langdon's a shocker aswell

I haven't heard that much of Langdon, but generally I don't mind the ex players in the footy media. I even don't mind Jakovich, and I know he doesn't have a lot of fans as far as his commentary is concerned.

Tony Shaw is very average, talks so much utter sh1t, his ex Collingwood teammate, Taylor, isn't much better.

Eddie's pretty good. Really passionate about the game. I loved his call about the ridiculous video review system during the Richmond v Melbourne game. He went right off and rightly so. Who GAF what the boundary umpire has to say about Goal Umpiring decisions? Laughable.

Stephen Rowe - Who gave this bloke a job? Fair dinkum editedwit.
Caroline Wilson - Too interested in the in-house bickerings of football clubs, real or fake.

Commentators such as bruce, eddie mcguire and dennis commetti do go over the top, but they have to IMO to make the game at least a little interesting for the viewer. Listening to the radio i quite like brayshaw and garry lyon on tripleM.

But I cant stand listening to this show now - Rowey has made the show annoyingly unlistenable!
