Also during that period, Cousins was supposed to present himself for a drug test by giving a hair sample, but conveniently shaved down his whole body to avoid the test. Again, the AFL did SFA.

So please don't spin the 'never tested positive' crap because any normal human can clearly work out that the AFL didnt seem interested in nabbing him, seemingly because he was a champion player and it was a better spin angle to be concerned for his welfare.

Did they afford the same concern to Laurence Angwin and the like? Of course not.

And finally, why the faark does WADA exist for? to test for illegal performance enhancing and recreational drugs FFS.

I didn't specify what drugs the Eagles players were taking, but we do KNOW that at least 3 WERE taking drugs at the time. If you don't believe there was a link between this and performance then who's a naive little boy then?
Who's to say there weren't a few Swans taking drugs also that slipped through the cracks? Maybe they only won in '06 because Goodes, Kirk and O'Keefe took speed every week and that cost the Eagles a flag?

Cousins and Chick v Goodes and Kirk.

Really? Although it was clear he was off the rails prior to the 2006 premiership, the drugs issue was admitted publicly until later. You're claims that he (and others) were using recreational drugs as an aid to win games is laughable.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

It's possible that they avoided positive tests because they were using DMAA (popular in bodybuilding circles, often used in proprietary blended pre-workout supps) which was only added to WADA's prohibited list in 2009. It's a strong stimulant at the right doses.

That 2006 GF must hold fond memories for the players with so many of them still on a high.

FORMER West Coast Eagle Adam Hunter has been questioned by police after organised crime squad detectives raided his home and found 75 pills.

Police searched Hunter's Innaloo home last Saturday morning and took away the pills for further testing.

They also found a cannabis pipe and an extendable baton.

It's understood the 2006 premiership player , who lives with two other people, was not at home at the time of the raid.

He told a Perth TV news station that he was not at home during the raid. He also denied any knowledge of the pills being inside his home.

A police media spokesman could not confirm whether the results of the test had been returned, but said no charges had been laid.

Hunter played 151 AFL games after debuting with West Coast in 2000.

He kicked the premiership winning goal in 2006.

Not related to 2005 & 2006 obviously, just an unfortunate co-incidence ...

If you think drug use was limited to West Coast during that time you are sadly mistaken.

It was also prevalent for AFL teams closer to home.

ZC is that
>890Kms
or
<890kms
Because technically Melbourne is a lot closer than other AFL teams in WA/QLD.
Just trying to clarify your point.

SA based, although I'm sure Melbourne teams would have had a similar culture as was exampled by the Happy team at Hawthorn.

Angwin (Carl), Stokes (Geel), WCE 2005-ish, Hawks 08-ish, Carey (Kanga)...

Drugs are not mutually exclusive to certain clubs, or superstar players (Lawrence Who???).

Ben Cousins is a sad story, as was Travis Tuck. Two different levels of footballer, one treated far better that the other.

But is not fair to say that it is a club culture thing.

Hawks 08-ish is an interesting comment - please expand - surely not Travis Tuck as this was later if my memory is correct.

ZC - do you mean closer to home as in a Club within S.A. - if so it doesn't surprise me at all.

Never heard them, hey? I have some cracking stories from their footy trips that could never be written about on here. And we're probably bordering already on what should and should not be discussed on a forum.

No I've never heard them - but I do agree we're bordering on stuff that shouldn't be discussed on forums such is the litigious world we live in - especially if there is no hard facts or evidence back,it up.
