i think ian Calllinan will play alot of footy for the crows and Centrals think he will as well

Was talking to a former Centrals/Power player who is still tied up with the Power and he seems to think Callinan will be the substitute player for the crows. He doesnt have a big enough engine to play a whole game of AFL week in week out but could centrainly have an impact in a half or less. thoughts?

from what i heard ian Callinan has be in the top 10 of all indurance runs and has surprised the Coaching staff with his aerobic capacity

and the Sub is going to be a Ruckman. cant offord to have two in your 21 but cant offord to have only to have 1 in your 22 incase of injury.

Yes they would, he is a proven insurance policy and costs bugger all as a rookie selection. I cant comment on his aerobic capacity or 4 quarter abilities as I dont follow Centrals so havent seen a heap of him. However there is no way he is a straight swap for Danger of Porplyzia, these guys need to improve their fitness to be able to rotate through the midfield now that the interchange is down to three hence their pre season in the midfield group. The midfield group would include Vince, McKay, Thompson, Van Berlo, Otten, Danger, Porp, Reily, Douglas, Knights, Martin, Sloane etc etc. Just because they train in this group doesnt mean they can all play midfield although the reality is they now will be required further up the ground more.

yeah he does, he is only a Rookie at the Moment. but Adelaide only have one Veteran meaning they can Upgrade one rookie for the second Veteran position, i am fairly sure. and teams only upgrade players the Thursday night before they play because as soon as they are upgraded they get a pay rise.

The Crows had there first hit out today with a Intra Club Match today and The Coaching Staff were really happy with Daniel Talia and Brodie Smith, who played well. but Ian Callinan Played a starring role. will be interesting how he goes

Not a bad little write up on the intra club game, Walker with 2 goals also!

Interesting to see Tambling playing across half back.

Anyone go have a look today??

Surely Callinan would have to have one foot in the round 1 side, depending on whether they are able to upgrade him or not. But you simply don't draft a 27 year old without expecting him to be able to play the level right off the bat. And good preseason/internal form would surely have the coaching staff seriously looking at him in their first 21.

As for the sub, it surely won't be a pure ruckman. It would only become useful if your ruckman went down. Any other player and your whole structure goes out of the window. More likely it would be an extra midfielder (since they are most likely to need replacing) and also if there's no injury you can sub one out in the last quarter to get some fresh legs into the game. Or if a side had a good utility player with some good versatility they might work out well as a sub. But that would depend a lot on what players you had in your main 21 who could also move positions.

7th with 3 of our most attacking players having great seasons? If those 3 are AA this year we'll be 4th or 5th.

Yep, the Crows 2011 fortunes rest with the form of their forwards...
