The Cats added Marcus Drum from Fremantle, lost Shane Mumford to Sydney and secured four selections in the top 42 of the national draft.

The Cats were also able to secure picks 40, 42 and 56 in return for pick 33 as part of a complicated multi team deal involving Port Adelaide, Hawthorn and Essendon.

Geelong will now have selections 17, 28, 40, 42 and 56 in the upcoming national draft.

I can sort of follow that, but it would be best displayed in a flow chart. ;)

Looks like the Burgouyne deal is finally done. Plenty of clubs getting involved to make sure this deal went through.
Jay Nash with picks 9 and 16 for Burgouyne - What do people think about this, in my opinion Port have done well out of this and got a fair bit for him. Im not sure he is worth that much to be honest.

According to AFL.com live chat:

Steve Lavell: The Brendan Fevola deal is done. He's heading to the Lions. Lachlan Henderson and pick No.12 to Carlton for Fevola and pick 27.

That is massive for the lions.
To have JB, Fevola and Bradshaw in the same side is going to go a long way to them winning next years flag.
Could all three play up forward or will it be a case of Jb outside 50, fev from the goalsquare and Bradshaw down back?

a terrible trade for Carlton yes, but they did say they were gonna sack him... a sacking to me indicates nothing in return...

so are the blues still gonna pay half his contracted salary?

Well the carlton supporters happy with this trade I hope youre also happy with having a rest in September next year. Fev might be a knob, but ffs how will you replace 185 goals from the last two seasons? Your second highest goal kicker this year was Eddie Betts! Sure Fev might drink a little much at times and act like a moron, but no need to send your club back down the ladder just to prove a point!

Fev was kicking 80 odd goals when we were "winning" wooden spoons too. Two seasons ago we weren't playing finals.

As a matter of interest, when Fev has been injured a bloke call Waite filled in a full forward and IIRC collected bags every week, and I think 3 goals in a game was his lowest tally.

We may take a step back, but overall the outcome will be better. Fev only had a 2 year window to get a flag, and no way that going to happen....

It's definitely opened Brisbane's premiership window a little wider and brought it a little closer.
Lions will be right up there next year.
With Fevola, Raines, Staker, Buchanan, Clarke and perhaps Jesse Smith joining the likes of Brown, Black, Power, Drummond, Rich, Brennan and Bradshaw, they've got all the ingredients of a premiership team.

I can see your point, but Fev also brought an element that could undermine his own team on the park aswell to the point that many pundits openly expressed a thought of "Carlton can't win a premiership so long as Fevola is there" - Obviously thats just speculation, but it's easy to see where that school of thought came from.

Whilst it's going to take time for Carlton to assemble and develop a team capable of challenging for the flag, I think they were a bit away from a premiership anyway so the sooner they start planning for the future (which includes sending the right message of what will and wont be tolerated at their football club), the sooner they should end up with a product they believe capable of a legitimate crack at the flag.
