I think Adelaide have one of the better forward halfs going around, but Presti will smother Tippett, OBrien will shadow Porplyzia and Maxwell will once again find himself the extra man up*.

For Adelaide to win they need to make Maxwell accountable and negate the influence of Didak, Swan and Pendelbury.

I'm looking forward to this one as Collingwood like coming over here, 'Pies by under 15.

I dont think so.This draft is very important to get some quality youth before the GC and Western Sydney sides come in and I dont think clubs can afford to carry blokes who at best may only play a handful of games.

he's a natural forward - leads well - i reckon adelaide are trying to pump the 'feel' of the game into him as he seems reactive rather than active in reading the play. for some players this takes longer than others - eg tippett
personally, i'd persevere with him at least until end of 2010 as quick 200cm players don't exactly grow on trees. his game against norwood was very good.

Exactly, Moran didn't grow up playing the game, so his actions and decisions aren't instinctive, atleast not yet.

1 : How long does this take? ( Factoring in the "old dog new tricks" theory )

2 : Can Adelaide afford to wait that long?

IMO he would be ideally suited to being the third ruckman on a list, not in the first picked but he does add depth, no doubt.

This McKay sounds like a real gun. Especially against the quality opposition he faced on Saturday, at one stage a WCE player almost got near him. They were a tight checking lot those Eagles were.

- You show up here because you are a Port Adelaide supporter and you are keen to slip as many snide little snipes in as you can.

- You'll stop at nothing to run with imaginary criticisms of any player the crows have coming through because lets face it, your own club's list is in as dire a state as it has ever been and it hurts you inside to see magnificent young players like Mackay running around for the arch rival. You glance through the Alberton gates to spy the best of your club's kit: a sluggish, elderly carthorse named Warren Tredwell and a mantis-like younger forward Justin Westinghouse. Oh, and to directly combat Mackay? A pair of skis at the top of a hill with Danyle Pearce attached to them.

- Looking at the bigger picture you can see something special brewing at Adelaide, what with enormously talented key position players (guys who aren't Westhoff), genuinely classy midfielders and a rock solid, dynamic defensive unit all falling into place. The fear running through you right now is building steadily and you struggle to live with the burden from day to day, with the snide comments providing minor but in the grand scheme of things, hollow relief. Why? Because your poor judgment is fighting an uphill battle to stifle the screaming voice of the better alter ego, who is telling you that Adelaide showdown victories so one-sided that a Port Adelaide supporter would do well not to assume the foetal position for months afterwards, and a period of genuine, powerful Crows premiership contention, both edge closer by the day.

Some of your observations are correct. Not all my sorties into this forum are with baited hook in hand and I pride myself on being able to be analytical and constructive in many of my comments about the Crows. To use this thread as an example for your side of the argument exclusively would be narrow minded in the extreme.

I rate Adelaide very highly and agree that the next 3 or 4 years could be very productive for them, however the love displyed to McKay in this thread has been almost sickening. I see he has a very bright future and expect him to be a top line player, but many 20 ( if thats how old he is ) year olds get weighed down by expectations and never reach the heights many judges expect from them.

I generally sleep well at night as I feel the coach at Adelaide has built a very rigid and extremely well drilled unit and I think the last 2 weeks in September often call for players and coaches to adapt to many different siuations that they rarely encounter in the Minor round *Insert 2008 GF Hawks tactics V Geelong here * and I am not so sure Captain Snooze, oops, I mean Neil Craig has the "feel" for such situations.

His kicking along with his ability to read the play, are his strengths. He would have the best kick (bar rich) that was picked up in the draft last year. This kids kicking is elite already IMO.

^ Disagree. I agree he has a good kick, and he produces some rippers, but man for a guy who possesses the skills he has he's regularly kicked absolute shockers this year.
