Who to drop this week??

Talk on the national game

FF line looks weak on paper with Porplyzia the only player I'd have confidence in.

Tippett was disappointing last week (he goes to ground way too often) and needs a solid game.
Knights I just don't rate anywhere, let alone as a forward pocket.

You don't rate Knights? He is quality and kicked a crucial goal on the weekend.

Yes, I'll give him credit for that goal -he delivered there when it counted.

Overall though, I just find he a bit slow and lacking in agility and that hampers his effectiveness.
He should probably have a slightly better return of 11 goals from 51 games as well.

Maybe I'm being too critical, but I think he's average and nothing more.
We'll see tomorrow, but if he plays forward pocket, then I'd be surprised if he has much of an impact on the game.

Crows ring changes

ADELAIDE has recalled stars Scott Thompson and Graham Johncock for its AFL clash with St Kilda at AAMI Stadium tomorrow night.

Thompson has recovered from hamstring problems, while Johncock returns after compassionate leave following the sudden death of his mother.

They replace Scott Stevens - who has hamstring soreness - and Myke Cook, who is unlucky to be omitted after a useful debut against Collingwood in round 1.
I went to a fight the other night, and a hockey game broke out. - Rodney Dangerfield (1921 - 2004)

I rate Knights, even though he burns it a bit, but he should near on have been dropped just for his Richardson-esque display of ill-discipline alone ... Perhaps his late goal in the heat of the game (which was quality) saved him?

Yes you are being too critical, like many crows supporters and footy supporters often are. I think your comments about knights will backfire, her will be one of the crows midfield guns in furture years.

Knights gets a lot of the ball, but his disposal is certainly erratic. He kicks to the opposition, or handballs to a man in poor position, too often.
If he can overcome that he will be a useful player.
Close to goal his ability to get the ball, and at least force a ball up, may prove useful

now that green is out there is no reason to have shirley in the side as he is a tagger. he does find some hard ball but i just dont think he is an afl player. that is my opinion. what are your thoughts??

that is a hard one. maric is just a lot more stronger than griffen and moves around and does read the play a lot better. if griffen gets himself bigger then he has it there to be a good ruckmen. the best thing for him though he is still young. but the other thing is could the crows be looking at another meesen??

Griffen is much better than Meeson IMHO .. I know I seem to rate the big Griff higher than most, but I still reckon he's got some class ... Big blokes can hang around a list for longer, so I don't think the Crows would be too disappointed with the development ot Maric, Tippett and Griffen, especially given 2 years ago when they were suddenly without Clarke, Hudson and Biglands - They've filled that hole pretty quickly really.

Surely Maric will not get dropped for Griffen !!!

This would be a huge mistake !!! I do not rate Griffen at all.

i wasnt saying that meeson is better than griffin. i think he has it there it is wether he wants to tap into the talent. but without hearing what is being said behind closed doors, we can sit here and go over the same things again and again. i think he will play this year. more than likely against the eagles. leave tippett as a forward and have maric and griffin run dean cox into the ground.

Yeah I know you weren't mate, but you made reference to Meeson so I was just commenting that Griffen is better than him imho.

sorry i should have meant another meeson in the fact that was unlucky to get games and then gets traded. but i couldnt see grif being traded. unless he asks for it and it would benefit all parties.

I was thinking the same, but then again, you never know what the Gold Coast might offer up .. They would surely be using the Power's inaugural squad as their model (ie, a few mature players surrounded by 10 year types) - Someone like Griffen could attract a decent offer.

or they could make an offer to the likes of a tippet and hey presto griffin is a number 2 ruckman or even the number 1 one ruckman. you gotta love speculation.
