For example 50. John Anthony............Yeah hes is going to be good in say 2 - 3 years, but right now......He couldnt get a kick agains the cats.
27. Aaron Sandilands (Fremantle).......really?

To avoid argument like we have had in another thread "Player X is better than Player Z".

This is how Mike has picked his top 50. The Pre Season top 50 comprises those i expect to have the greatest impact in the coming season. Selections are based on exposed form coupled with anticipated improvement. This list excludes players under an injury cloud.

1. Gary Ablett
2. Chris Judd
3. Lance Franklin
4. Dean Cox
5. Luke Hodge
6. Brendan Fevola
7. Jonathon Brown
8. Nick Riewoldt
9. Matthew Pavlich
10. Matthew Scarlett

11. Jimmy Bartel
12. Simon Black
13. Adam Cooney
14. Joel Corey
15. Matthew Richardson
16. Brent Harvey
17. Adam Goodes
18. Shaun Burgoyne
19. Daniel Kerr
20. Chad Cornes

21. Darren Glass
22 Jarryd Roughhead
23. Dale Morris
24. Cameron Ling
25. Sam Mitchell
26. Sam Fisher
27. Joel Selwood
28. Brad Sewell
29. Steve Johnson
30. Luke Power

31. Alan Didak
32. Ryan O Keefe
33. Brad Ottens
34. Daniel Bradshaw
35. Paul Chapman
36. Nathan Bock
37. Dane Swan
38. Jarrod McVeigh
39. Scott Pendlebury
40. Simon Goodwin

41. Brett Deledio
42. Ryan Griffen
43. Travis Cloke
44. Brendan Goddard
45. Chance Bateman
46. Drew Petrie
47. Cyril Rioli
48. Kane Cornes
49. Grant Birchall
50. Bryce Gibbs

Interesting List, some things i do not agree with. What is everyone elses thoughts?

Few things that stick out to me :
- Fev at 6 with 3 better forwards behind him IMO
-Does the brownlow not count for anything;11,12,13 all have won one yet only one player in the top 10 has won one
-Brad Ottens (33) hardly played last year
-Bradshaw???
-Rioli, surely not top 50 yet
- Kane Cornes way too low

and number 17 has won 2!!

i agree is a dual medal winner...should be a lot higher

When he does his lists he takes into count last years form and injuries etc. Goodes had a "bad" year for his standards last year and slipped. Same as the Chand with injuries etc.

The year before he had Juddy at number 8 or 9 IIRC due to him being injured.....

Fair call mpm - it is one blokes opinion and he will never please everyone, but seriously - how can John Anthony be in the top 50 players in the AFL right now? I'd love to know Rucci's reasoning....

Yep

Was ineligible but was still only 3 votes away from Cooney 24-21

Regardless of his Brownlow i dont think Cooney is in the top 10 in the league so i think Mike got that spot on, had a terrific year but not in that elite top 10 IMO. Lets remember he did not win the club B and F either.
