I Have seen a bit of Dangerfield and i think he is going to be a very good player, As a WCE man obviously i am over the moon to snare Ebert at 13. We will not know if the Adelaide football club made the right decision until probably 3-4 years so time will tell.

On the school issue, i realise that he wants to stay with mates and at home while finishing his VCE but i still find it a little strange, i would have thought the AFC would make sure he fits in really well no matter where he went. Personally i would have happily moved to do my VCE if it meant playing AFL but it shows a certain amount of maturity IMO, He obviously realises that football is not the be all and end all.

It is if you're in the AFL!

I want Dangerfield to be a gun, I honestly think he will be a gun. Everyone here is thinking along the same lines.

We just see it as a risk. Calm down and relax.

any better than Richmond?
any better than Fremantle?
any better than Essendon?
any better than Melbourne?
any better than Kangaroos?

I'd assume he'd play footy next year ? For who in Vic ? Do the Crows get a say with whom he plays ?
Would it be VFL or TAC ?

How do we know Adelaide has stuffed up ?
Only time will tell.
Ebert will be a good player, but so will Dangerfield. You cannot compare him to Angwin. I would doubt Angwin would have given any thought to his own education. Surely Dangerfield's attitude towards completing his schooling is a positive.
If AFC stuffed up, does that mean the teams with selection 11 and 12 did also ?

The reason Adelaide Fans are miffed is not cause of this selection but due to their previous stuff ups, if they had been gun recruiters in the past hardly an eye brow would have been raised with this pick....

Adelaide Fans can potentially see another right royal stuff up here

I must admit, my first thought on Saturday was WTF have the Crows just done? Looking into it further, and trying to find out a bit about the kid and his attitude, the decision now doesn't seem THAT bad - There will for quite some time be a question mark over it naturally, but we're not going to know the answer for at least 2 years, probably longer.

I wouldn't hang the Crows over this one (well not yet anyway) - The kid sounds happy with Adelaide, is showing maturity at such a young age by realising the value of his education, and by all accounts can play decent footy.

Yes will be playing football next year. He will stay with the Geelong Falcons in the TAC so no Adelaide do not get a say, The club knew about this well before the draft. He will be doing Pre Season with Adelaide then go back and finish school in Geelong. He may fit a couple of SANFL games in as well, presumably seconds.

The main reason he wants to stay with his parents are that they are both teachers and he needs them to tutor him during the year.

Does" I will stay in Victoria next year no matter what" really mean "surely that will stop an interstate side picking me up as I will never want to be anywhere else"?

Not it doesn't - both his parents are teachers that's what its all about. When they realise how much money he can make they will get him over to AFC el pronto. Some of these kids are so poorly advised. He could easily complete his Yr 12 at a high quality college/school here for goodness sakes - and I bet that is what happens!

What does that mean?? His parents are teachers? Yes that says alot. Give him a break, he's one of the youngest in the draft, he's only 17 FFS.

woodwt - WTF do you base your opinion on....

The Facts are, the media has built up this love romance between Ebert and the AFC, and most people have gone along with the ride believing if Ebert was available it was a done deal..... now the crows have selected Dangerfield everyone is shocked

The only argument I have seen in favor of Ebert is that he carries SA bloodlines and he is a local lad.....

Has anyone considered that just maybe Dangerfield is the better prospect...

Only time will be the judge, lets give both players an opportunity to develop their careers, and in 5 years time, we will be in a position to make a judgement call on this selection, the AFC would have either mucked up a top 10 selection, or it will be a stoke of genius...

For those who want to make that call now, all of you are nothing but premature ejaculators

The difference is they would have done at least some schooling at the place before starting year 12. Let the kid finish yr 12 for christ sakes. If he wants to do it in Vic, good'o. Cant see the problem.
