Having said that Mattner is good pick-up for Swannies.

Bode and Biglands both were recruited by the Crows after playing for Port and both have had long careers at the AFC and become fan favourites. Dont see any reason why Symes would be any different. Mattner was obviously on the outer at the Crows, and Symes is a good replacement for him, and is one year younger i think as well.

Both had a huge impact on the AFL in 2007, I bet Port were ruing those moves!

Their best years are certainly behind them (they've both given good service though), Bode indirectly resulted in us getting S Burgoyne so no complaints here :D

Yep, every AFL player wants to come to Adelaide

Wonder whether the trade will happen? Leaving it a bit late now. Although could be waiting for the happy hour of trades just before 1:30.

On face value it does appear to be a wasted trade by the Crows.

I will reserve judgement though until I have watched both Symes & Mattner play for their new respective teams.

As a Port fan I am sorry to see Symes go. I feel he had real pontential to go onto bigger things in the next few years. Good luck to him at the Crows!

As for pick 28 - I hope the Port coaches and recruiting staff use it wisely! They have a very good strike rate so far in drafts - I hope this continues...

Care to elaborate Lemon, Lime?

They swapped Mattner for Symes, effectively. I reckon they're on a winner.

Why?
Basically swapped Mattner for Symes who is way better and younger.

Pfeiffer, Hinge.

Symes.

Where is the room for them all? There isn't, therefore= waste.

Just on what has transpired in essence a swap for Marty for Symes !!!

I am a massive Mattner fan and always will be but they are 2 different type players and the crows are in need for a Symes type player.

Good result for both players really !!!

How often do you think all 6 of those will be fit at the same time, and how long do you think Mac and Torney have left in the game?

As discussed numerous times elsewhere, the Crows midfield isn't overloaded with talent either so an opportuinity exists there also.
