'IF' the Crows are to be serious contender next year, it simply must be over.

I'm guessing* the club and him have different ideas on that.

Nicks will pick him every week
I think they still want him in the mix.

A pick that would end up in the 20s in a weak draft & someone that wasn't in the Crows best 22 come finals is now overpaying?

Petracca, Merrit, Curnow, Warple, May, McVee, Ugle-Hagan etc

I think these big names (or at least some of them are going to get done in a mega trade involving multiple parties

it's going to keep us nuffies occupied up until the trade deadline.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Yep, really wasn’t in the finals team due to injuries. If Petracca was 25-26 I’d agree but nearly 30 it is a different story

Apparently you can’t count F/S or academy picks in the draft so it’s still pick 14 ;)

Might be time for a club to stand firm and not do a trade for a contracted player. Be interesting if one / more does.

Players can’t have it both ways IMO. If players are able to break contracts then clubs should be able to trade without consent

Played the last 3 in the SANFL and the two finals and to be honest I'm surprised Murray stayed in once Butts was fit.

I agree, but the second part won't happen while there's an AFLPA.

completely agree.

had this discussion yesterday, mainly regarding players signing 4yr+ deals and wanting out after 1.
players have far too much power and its having a detrimental impact on the league
Matty Wade is a star and deserves more respect from the forum family!

Backline had been good so they weren’t going to change but he easily could have been selected before Murray

Days before free agency opens, the Giants have confirmed the first signing of the AFL off-season, with Essendon defender Jayden Laverde committing to the club.

Laverde is set to sign with GWS after the draft in late November - either as a rookie or via the pre-season supplemental selection period.

The 29-year-old played 145 games at the Bombers but was delisted earlier this month as the club continues its youth movement.

Laverde will serve as defensive depth for the orange team with Leek Aleer set to depart for St Kilda next month.

“We’re delighted that Jayden has decided to join the club as he’ll add a host of experience as well as depth to our key defensive stocks,” Giants Executive General Manager of Football Jason McCartney said.

How will Port supporters feel if we get Ah Chee, Petracca and Stevens from Geelong and they get Brodie, Wehr and Fiorini this offseason?
