Worst coach in the AFL by a fair margin. Worst side in the AFL by a fair margin.

Craigy would have to be doubting his own ability to get the team mentally prepared.
They have shown they have got the ability but they are 'switching off'
That has to lie with the coach.

I must admit I am losing my confidence in Craig as coach. There is no doubt he is a very good coach, but I am beginning to wonder whether his ideas are becoming stale and a change is needed.

That said, I am greatly concerned that a change in coach could only worsen the situation. I am worried that there is a lack of proven coaches out there willing to take the role, and we could end up with a 'green' assistant or former club identity that would end up leading the club into an extended length of cellar dwelling.

People need to consider what the alternative would be when they call for the axe to swing. It's all very well to suggest "get Roos" or "get Malthouse", but it is highly likely that they would not come, and we would end up facing some of our darkest times as a club with an untried coach at the helm. I'd take Craig any day over that prospect.

Good post and my thoughts exactly!

I have always supported Craigy and i spose times like these is when your faith gets tested. Needs to be a sure replacement for him to hand over the reins IMO.

Goodwin?
Bassett?

Surely these two guys either need to be looked at or at the very least brought in as assisstant roles.

I guess no coach can control a young team to be consistent.. but our worst is horrible.
It was disenhearting against Melbs...
Angry vs Pies
But Brisbane was the final straw.

I can excuse the shocking efforts here and there, but this year is as bad as i can remember since Shaw era.
It's not the losses, it's the way we lose.

Totally agree with you mate.

Changing coaches it not a quick fix though. Just ask a Richmond fan.

Not saying it shouldn't be considered - but it definitely should be considered in depth before the trigger is pulled.

It's easy to make the call when a coach has lost the support of his players, but Craig has not. They are passionate in their support of him and believe he is the man that should be at the helm. There's got to be something in that.

First year coaches aren't always bombouts --- ask Rik E Boy how his man is going.
Maybe a Red Fist ?

Yes. That does have a little something to do with the strength of the Cats list though. He has inherited a hardened AFL team - I doubt Scotty would have the same success with our list of over hyped greenery.

I don't see a problem with our defence or forwards. It's clearly the midfield which is where our real issue.
Why Dangerfield hasn't been unleashed and just given his rightful role in the pivot is beyond me.
Dangerfield + Thompson looks a more formidable onball brigade than Thompson and............no one. Lol

Agreed, Ginger ---- but Scotty is doing considerably better than Bomber was at the end of last year.
He has won his charges' confidence completely, and that appears to be immediate.
my suggestion --- see what Craigy can do over the rest of 2011, but if the bomb-outs continue we'll need a change. I like what I read in today's chip wrapper, see if a Red Fist is available.

Spot on mate, totally agree with you. He should have until the end of this year, and if no significant improvement is shown then it might be time to go to the market.

Today's newspaper article re/by Neil Craig only proves that he is Mr Stubborn. Has always been either his way or no way.
Just ask some of the folk who have been around the club and would know.
The Seven year itch is kicking in. We have been spoilt by the flair that Blight was able to instill in the playing group and this sadly is not an ability held by Craig.
They had better start looking around for alternatives, but as Craig has been able to install himself on the staff (a very clever move) any replacement wont be keen for the former coach to be looking over his shoulder. Slim pickings for the Crows for awhile unfortunately.

Rowey is very smart.
He is just straight to the point without dancing around the issue that Cornesy often is guilty of.
