Amazingly this thread goes quiet after last night, when there is no question he should be sacked this week...

It clearly must be Craig's fault that McLeod and Johncock got injured yesterday
Port Power has 16 years history at Football Park...

The Port Magpies have 40 years history and the two shall never be confused or combined

I'm not sure there is much more to say.
Running over Richmond when they tired first, and were no longer tackling hard and fast makes little difference.
It doesn't fill me with much hope for the rest of the season...

OK, as has been pointed out on numerous occasions, this board is for Crows fans, and those totally respecting the rules of the Crows board. If you're not a Crows fan, please post on the AFL board!!

He is a shocking coach. Can't ever get the players to play with any emotion or passion, we are freaking spineless. When a team gets a run on and shows some fight, we go into our shells, useless rabble.

How things change after a couple of rounds! Hawthorn showed some fight and got a run on and i do believe we came back and won??

Only so much blame can go towards the coach, he cant kick the ball or tackle for them!

Players need to take responsiblity for me! Always an easy option to blame the coach!

Hawks21,

I agree, it is always the easy option to blame the coach especially when our favourite players are involved. It's never their fault and of couse unless they have the greatest emotional motivation speech before the game they can't get themselves going. Yet they were up and going for a quarter ... then it fell apart.

That's a bit harsh on the players and easy on the coach when it is a shared responsibility but I want to hear some of the moves that were or weren't made before judging Craigy 100% for the loss.

In fairness to the players it was a very young team out there. There were so many players are missing from what was a very settled and injury free round 1 side. Watching on TV, Port got a run on and seemed to have the stronger bodies in the positions where it counted through the midfield and we couldn't stop them.

You summed it up! You cant blame the coach for a group of players all of a sudden loosing momentum and then loosing competitiveness. IM sure Neils’s message at Qtr time wasn’t to stop running and then give up!

We were smashed in all parts of the game after half time. The Coach can only throw the players around in positions so much. Someone needs to take control of the game and lift the side. Unfortunately we didn’t have a Roo or Goody out there to grab control of the game as it was slipping.

Would have been the youngest side the crows have ever had on the park, however this doesn’t excuse to effort

I agree FS, especially about the age of the side. I didnt realise that Tippet had only played 60 odd games, seems like he has been around for ages. This group will get better with time, players like Henderson has only played 15 and is relied upon to win games for his side. It is an easy option to point at Craig and say it is all his fault.

If you look at our season so far, we won the first game against a side that has been tipped as contenders. Had the bye, beaten well by Fremantle, another side tipped to perform this year. Even in the freo game you take out the first quarter and on the scoreboard the game was fairly even. Then we play a half of footy against port and get smashed. I think the bye this year can make people forget how a side can be travelling, its been three weeks since we won but have only actually lost two since then. Yes the way we lost them is an issue but I think it is a little early to start sending the coach on his way.

Rehn - No way. He is brain dead.

The time has come where we need to take a step backwards to take 3 forwards. Bye Bye Craigy.

Today was a team that was not mentally prepared to play.

No heart, no desire, even VB was missing simple tackles!!

I think Craig has got the most out of the list he can and the AFC needs to look outside it's 4 walls to find a replacement.

There's definitely an issue with mental strength in the playing group.
Similarly to last year, good against recognised sides (Hawks, Saints, Carlton), but very flakey against the weaker ones.
Teams can struggle with it for weeks and then turn it around like Melbourne today.
These guys are highly paid professionals, but just like any other job you still need to be motivated.

We have a relatively inexperienced side, but that's no excuse for lacklustre efforts like today.
The Suns were excellent last night and if they repeat that sort of effort we will not win easily.
I watched Craig's presser and I thought the most telling part was when he talked about how he thought we'd respond in the 3rd quarter.
We have a reasonably talented side, but unless the team gains the ability to respond in adversity, it'll be time to take a different approach.
