Anonymity is fine in Geelong, one of the few times I've been there I walked past Garry Ablett Snr with noone else in the entire street and didn't realise till my missus told me! :lol:

This might be a dumb and meaningless question, but why do Geelong get called "Geelong Cats" in all fixtures, as other clubs in Victoria don't use their nickname in official publications.

The club asked for it a few years back, something to do with branding.

Western Bulldogs sort of do
Quite a few non-victorian sides also do.

Billie Smedts dislocated his left shoulder on Monday at training, requires a reconstruction. Will miss up to 4 months as he recovers.

Would be a return in May/June at that rate. Bit of a loss that one, he's a promising kid who was ready to go to the next level I reakon.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

I heard it was to do with distancing themselves from the "other" GFC, the Global Financial Crisis (ie, they are the GCFC). Dunno how true that was though.
