Thompson's disposal has always been suspect - think back to the elim final vs Hawthorn...

He is not an elite midfielder, never has been. He is above-average at best.

Agree mate, I didn't mean to infer his disposal has only recently become suspect ... I noticed the Power fans (in my vicinity) were more than unfazed anytime he had the ball on Saturday.

Champagne comedy there Booney.

Seriously though, is their no Port Adelaide supporter who has any comedic talent? All I've copped this week are the same recycled jokes that were sent the other way last year. Come on Power supporters, step it up, surely you can come up with something original!

Fair go Gingernuts. Rodney Rude couldn't compete with the material that the Blackbirds have offered this season. Seinfield couldn't follow up your boys!

Yeah, almost as good as P Burgoyne playing on in the square and missing the goal in the final Port lost to Collingwood at AAMI, one of many if I recall.

But as I've said a million times, without Thompson that day we wouldn't have even been in a position to win. He was outstanding.

34 possessions, 8 marks, 6 tackles, probably our best player.

Again, we would NOT have even been in the game without him.

He does tend to win more contested possessions than some and his tackle count is usually good.
I agree his disposal can be a little erratic, though nowhere near as consistently so as Burton's..

With players like that, (poor disposal) then build a midfield around him simply playing inside the for entire game, hes not super quick but hes hard at i. Many teams have players like this that have poor foot skills. Example, am Mitchells kicking is horrendous but he plays mostly inside around the clearances. So get your better skilled and quicker players to play off him.
No real disaster there.
Also I reckon you guys would do well to have Griffen in your side, this would allow Tippett to stay at home at FF and Maric some rest. And just quietly Maric has probably been in the crows best for the last month or so.
