3 qtr time:

Freo 16.10
Sydney 11.3

Freo surely can't lose this one now.

Another week of upsets and the way things are going Brisbane and Melbourne will get up tomorrow...
Okay that's just getting ridiculous :)

Ed Barlow reminds me of Stuart Maxfield - at least he looks like him! ;)

Game would be over now, 17.12 to 14.4 with 4 minutes left.

Rhys Palmer looks fine after the game, he is walking and no ice on his knee.

Can't comment on Rhys Palmer's injury because I didn't see it, but something you see a lot in contemporary football is players going down in agony with seemingly serious injuries, and then 5 minutes later they're jogging around the boundary ready to go on again.

Years ago, when a player was hurt, he was hurt. You rarely saw them back on the field.

What is the reason for this? Is totay's medical teams so good they can resurrect a player almost immediately, does the contemporary player have less tolerance to pain? What is it?

I can tell you Hawk that in Palmer's case it wasn't a put on or a wuss out because the umpire wanted to bounce the ball almost immediately after he went down with Palmer rolling around on the ground clutching his knee. When he tried to stand up he couldn't put weight on it at all. It didn't look good for the young fellow and it reminded me of when Darcy did his knee at Cat Park a few years ago and he had to be assisted around the boundary line. Luckily for Palmer it seems like he's OK.

While I agree that the modern player comes up short in the toughness stakes of players of the past you have to remember that they go down to the rooms these days, have a jab and all is well.

regards,

REB
