He had his issues last year on and off field that, coupled with his previous 5 or so years, can be forgiven, but when you look at the top ruckmen in the competition in Grundy, Gawn, Ryder, Naitanui, Martin, Lycett he's a long way off the form some of them have shown in the last 18-24 months and given he's about to turn 31 you would think he's unlikely to find his best form again.

Kind of see Jacobs now as where Lobbe was a couple years ago, the competition just seems to catch up to them overnight.

Shame, I hope he finishes out the year with some form, he's been massive for the Cows for a long time.

Good call, the game caught up with Lobbe and spat him out the back in a matter of 12 months.

Absolutely, Jacobs has carried the ruck duties on his own for years now.

Excellent call, he's been an excellent servant for the AFC.

Kinda staggers me the lack of succession planning (even if they've been working on ROB, that would be all the eggs in one basket) for Sauce, but thats what makes me think they might try and buy their way out of it.

Other than both having red hair, I can’t see the comparison between Jacobs and Lobbe.
Ones had a great career and can/could play, the others a list clogger at Carlton now. ;)

He's got a year to run so they'll be trading for him, what are they giving up?

Carlton's first rounder?

Probably, although Collingwood have a habit of getting other clubs unwanted 25+ year olds

I've probably been a bit harsh on the "unwanted" word, They did get Beams this season.

I think the crows are going to go very hard and this is why the deal with Carlton last year now looks more beneficial. They will probably have a top 4 pick to use as well as another first would probably get the job done.

In saying that does Grundy want to leave? Typically getting players back to SA from Victoria is difficult. He's at one of the big 4 clubs in the biggest football city.

Carlton don't want injuries to hit otherwise they are ******! Having said that if they can get 90% of their best 22 on the park for most of the season they should be able to win more games than last year!

Jacobs will go down as our second best ruckman behind Rehn when he retires. It's worrying seeing him move the way he is, can't jump in the middle and seems slow around the ground. Looking forward to seeing something different this week with ROB. Hopefully has a bit more spring in the step than sauce in the middle. Heard he played well quite well in the SANFL last saturday.

Former Crow Sam Shaw, who retired prematurely due to concussion, has launched legal action against his former club and its team doctors, as well as other medical specialists, reports Fairfax Media.

Shaw retired in late 2016 with a year to run on his contract after playing 24 games in a seven-year career plagued by hamstring and, most notably, concussion issues.

He didn’t play an AFL game in the year he retired after suffering a concussion while playing for the Crows in the SANFL Reserves.

Fairfax Media cited proceedings filed in the Supreme Court of Victoria last week, which revealed Shaw was seeking damages from the Crows, their doctors and other medical experts.

It was reported those who provided Shaw with medical advice and treatment “were negligent in their treatment of his injury”.

Part of the writ states: “Specifically, it is alleged that the concussion suffered by the Plaintiff was not managed in accordance with reasonable medical practice.”

A Crows spokesperson told Fairfax Media that the club hadn’t been served with any court documents yet.

The people named in the writ are ex-Crows team doctor Andrew Potter, current Crows medical staff member Duncan Walker and neurologist Paul McCrory, who’s also a member of the AFL’s concussion working group.

Recruited from the Oakleigh Chargers, Shaw played 14 games in 2012 and earned a Rising Star nomination.

When he announced his retirement, Shaw thanked the Crows for allowing him to “live out a lifelong dream” and supporting him during “a difficult time personally through injury”.

“It is with a heavy heart and through much deliberation with the assistance of friends, health professionals and my ever-supportive family to step away from professional football and focus on my health,” Shaw said.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.
